in Social media and new media are not the same on Christopher S. Penn's Awaken Your Superhero
Great article, going to digg it. I agree I don't think that social media and new media are the same thing and I think that articles like yours will help people navigate this new environment and make better informed choices about how to use it.

in Quick Survey on Chris Brogan
Hi Chris, just thought I would add that I am using the new Mail app in Leopard to follow this site when I am busy. Not the same as seeing your friendly face of course, but it keeps me up to speed. Do you get the stats if I view this way?

in BlackBerry Rules the Smartphone Roost on Chris Brogan
This is the conversation thats been going on in my head for a while! I love my Blackberry 8800 but its just not 'mac' enough for me. If the iphone had a real keyboard with no 'guess what I'm writing' software I would make the change on our next tech refresh.
I will probably make the move to Iphone, because I don't want to carry my blackberry and an ipod. Two things to remember to pick up, two things to charge up, two different interfaces to learn. Blackberry and Pocket Mac arguments to deal with.
What I want after voice is email, and after that I want my podcasts!

in Have the Data Wars Begun on Chris Brogan
Good article, thought provoking. I guess it pulls us painfully back to the adage of commerce, "Theres no such thing as a free lunch". Its made me want to think about this some more, perhaps to put a presentation together about the skirmishes, the ambushes and the toe to toe fire fights of the Data Wars.

Re Hyperlocal media
I think this is spot on. I started doing a hyperlocal podcast about the village where I live. We get so much feedback and engagement. People are really pleased to have a local show and items become a talking point. I think this is going to be interesting for the local elections! People are really engaged with this, they know some of the people and want to know the others.
In the past I never thought this would take off. I think the clear channel paradigm has limited our view of what is possible. The mist is clearing, the world is waiting to listen to the voices of the villages.

in Your Blog This Weekend on Chris Brogan
I didn't wasnt to write about the echochamber of 2.0 but here's what I'm writing about at the moment! I am convinced the purpose of problems is to forge our lives to live without fear. Time and again I am faced with circumstances that test my belief in the infinite potential of life, that try to coax fear out of my life. I can come up with all the reasons why my fear and subsequent course of action is justified, but coming up with a reason to take the courageous action, the right action is a real battle. This is the battle of our human revolution to gradually drive out our fear and complaint. Like a sword being pounded in the fire to bring out impurities, so we face the realities of daily life. Our live contains all the necessary ingredients to transform. The relationships that we have, the arguments, the likes and the dislikes all provide grist to the millstone of our own inner revolution.
