I gave up caffeine for two years while I was pregnant and breastfeeding. I cut it cold turkey and was surprised how quickly I readjusted and didn't need the perk up. But I did after a while start drinking decaf, for just the reasons you mention above. I'm not a morning person and I need that slow-start coffee reflection time. Plus, I just LOVE the smell and taste of coffee. Decaf filled the void for me.
pearl_mattenson It is funny- giving up coffee during pregnancy was easy for me too. I also love the smell of coffee . My latest strategy- go to whole foods and smell the fresh coffee beans as I sip my tea!
