This is my father-in-law\'s name. Luckily my wife told me it before I met him because I laughed so hard I cried. She didn\'t understand but got mad just the same. After I told her it was a redundant name I then had to explain what a \"johnson\" was. I call him Rich because I just can\'t say Dick without snickering.

And I thought my wife was nuts! I came home from work and she said that our 2 week old had a woodie and I cried from laughing so hard. She didn\'t think it was funny though. So now I can go home tonight and tell her \"I was wrong.\" She loves hearing that more than \"I love you.\"

Well, I\'m on day 7 of not smoking. It\'s a pain in the butt(pun intended). Every now and then I mutter \"I want a cigarette\" which annoys my wife but she is understanding. Unfortunately I have started dipping but not all that much. My aunt and uncle who are farmers and swear up and down by the farmer\'s almanac told me the prime dates of the month to quit (something about the zodiac).
My coworkers are buttheads (pun intended again), telling me they are going to go smoke and asking me if I\'d like to join them. They all have seen both my middle fingers raised in salute. When I do feel the urge, I just think of my son to come and chasing kids when you can\'t breathe isn\'t fun.

I still think our ultrasound was the neatest because I could spot almost everything right away. He was facing the \"camera\" with both hands by his head. We dubbed it the \"Home Alone\" pose.

That sure was sly way of letting us know!
On the whole first trimester thing, we told before the first was up but did not buy anything until after (on her sister\'s advice from unfortunate experiences). It seemed to become really real when we were picking out colors, styles, cribs, etc.

Thanks for the tips! Being a Red Wings fan and my son due 2-3 weeks before preseaon (we found out we were inducing either 8/24 or 9/4 (I\'m stoked :zzz )), I can start quick. Since wife and I met at a local hockey game she wasn\'t surprised when I went out ang got Wings onesies. We do the food on big games,always serving wings(duh) and cold brews. The inlaws are evn already trying to influence on the diamond and gridiron with outfits from their respective cities. So I think I can look forward to my son and I can enjoying many a weekend in front of the games.

My wife only had morning sickness once. There also have been no real cravings but her diet has changed in one way: No More super spicy foods. She could eat habeneros like they were candy and would make salsa that would light up the sky. My stomach can\'t handle that heat and for at least the last eight months I have gotten a nice break from eating TUMS by the handfull.

The snoogle is the big brother to the boppy. It is shaped like a capital \"J\" and is about four and a half feet long. Your wife will appreciate this especially when she is pregnant. It goes under he head, down the back (for support), through the legs and the \"swoop \" part goes under her belly for more support.
After birth it can curl up in many shapes for breast feeding and even help the child learn how to sit. It comes with a washable cover too. They run about $50 at, you guessed it, Babies \'R\' Us (they seem to have everything don\'t they?). Although pricey I won mega points and with 7 weeks to go my wife looks like Linus from Peanuts dragging it everywhere she goes in the house. It was worth every penny since she was considering buying four or five pillows to use in bed for back support and still get a boppy after birth. 8)

Last year at the state fair I saw a dad with what I would call a reverse leash. He had a piece of bungee cord tied to his belt and his son just held the other end. If there was slack or the cord was let go it would signal the father. While I still believe that keeping an eye on your child or even just holding your child\'s hand is the best bet, this does seem better than the inhumane leash.

I\'m not looking forward to it but a friend of mine said that after the baby comes and they wheel the large steel bowl over, find something to do that is far away from that bowl. At first he wouldn\'t tell me why but after some prodding he summed it up in one word: AFTERBIRTH :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek

I have to agree with you on everything except trivial pusuit. I can kick your butt. That\'s why my wife calls me the vat of useless knowledge.

I know, I know, I am need to quit. The baby is due 9/10 and I have set the final date for 9/1. I haven\'t smoked in our new house and haven\'t smoked anywhere but the street or work since we found out we were pregnant. Like you I was the child of smokers(3 packs a day each). I lost my father to smoking but it was the thought of having a son that made my mind up. I won\'t give him the oppotunity that my parents gave me, leaving stogies out for a curious thirteen year old who wanted to \"look cool.\" I won\'t miss the nicotine though, the tough part is the habit of 20 years. Wish me luck, I\'ll need it.

I\'m glad to hear you can carry that much stuff in a minivan. I had traded my sedan in for a longbed truck a year ago because with our new house I was constanly hauling things. Then, when we found out we were pregnant, (why do people say \"we\" anyway?) my wife instantly starting talking minivan. I have been putting up a fight, saying that we can\'t live without a truck since we are still going to Home Depot every weekend to get one thing or another. She also doesn\'t like the idea of the baby riding in the front seat in the rare occassions that he would ride with me. Damn, I loved that truck. :cry :cry :cry

I have decided (w/ my wife\'s permission) that our son is going to be encouraged to play soccer. I can remember my fisrt practice when the coach put me on defense and told me my only job was to keep the ball from going past me. Unfortunately he forgot to tell me \"no hands.\" The end result was 12 seaesons at goalie. But I did enjoy being the only one wearing a different jersey and it led me to understand and fall in love with hockey. That\'s where I met my wife, at a local semi-pro hockey game and I guess in a long, drawn out, roundabout way I can thank soccer for where I am today. (I know, its a stretch.)

My wife and I let our dog(Min Pin) sleep with us and there is already issues. There is no way I\'m letting our son even start. She says safety and I say the bed is full. Even as a child they need to learn individuality and independence. We have a friend who let her son sleep with her until he was eight and it only stopped when she got married. He is thirteen now and is the biggest momma\'s boy I have ever met.
So go ahead and deicide for yourselves but if you let your son sleep with you don\'t be surprised if he comes home beat up by the local kids every now and then. :cry

Mickey has been around a long time and you don\'t stand the test of time unless you know a thing or two. Besides, everyone knows an Irishman will fight his own brother at the drop of a hat! :upset

It\'s like you read our minds. This is the first time I have heard of a Daddle and I can say for sure I don\'t want one. Anything that comes with kneepads is not a gift! As far as the tools, my wife bought a tool set for me one time and since we hadn\'t been together very long I just smiled and gave her the best thank you I could muster up. Then, everytime I went to go and fix something I heard \"why aren\'t you using the tools I got you?\" Un fotunately though, they got lost when we moved.(damn the luck)
This will be my first Father\'s Day though and I am just hoping for the best. I did read her the list hoping to hedge my bets. I\'ll let you know how it turns out!

\"Junior\" (no, we still haven\'t picked a name) isn\'t due until September but I want to be ready. First, I need a good name to go w/ James (family tradition) and secondly, all the hours of Looney Tunes and other classic cartoons so I can teach my son classic humor. You know the kind, where I can show him that like Elmer, you can hunt all day and not get what you want but you try anyway, because one day you get to be a smart ass rabbit and go home grinning. Besides I have no idea who these dang Baby Einsteins are anyway! Oh yeah, and a sixer of ice cold Miller Lite while I watch the Stanley Cup.

Are there any more good suggestions to keep \"junior\" safe?? I grew up with rubber bands around handles and \"STAY AWAY FROM MY DRINK!\" With all this new stuff out there it is overwhelming. I\'d like to use the K.I.S.S. system whenever possible unless there are amps or horsepower involved(hey, I\'m still a guy after all)

My wife and I took \"junior\" to go see the elephants and horses arrive for the upcoming circus. (I say \"junior\" because she is in her third trimester and we haven\'t got a name yet.)
But I digress. They had to move them from the train they arrived on to the livestock area where they will be kept until the circus starts. After the circus there will be another parade of animals going back to the trains from whence they came.
Although \"junior wasn\'t actually around to enjoy, he did seem to kick my wife a lot, Iguess feeling her excitement.
I tell you this because we did this all for the price of two sodas and I didn\'t have to watch \"American Idol.\" Winners all the way around!!! :grin
