in More things - OTD on Seven 9s and 10s
i was about to say that it sounded like we had similar adolescent-hoods in the inclusion/friend factor, but i kind of wonder that it's a pretty normal thing at that age. kids can be brutal. but I definitely got more than a "normal" share of exclusion and two-faced friends, which has shaped me into the introverted not-entirely-trusting person that i am today.
so in other words, yeah. i'm hooked on twitter too. hmm.
in a car ride 15 mins or longer, i'm checking twitter on my phone to keep up or just alleviate boredom. i've spent some time reading faved twitters of popular tweeters and i've found a heavy handful of amusing people to follow. but i didn't go much further because i know it would just get out of control. i think twitter needs to come up with some kind of filter or grouping system, to make this easier for us.
that same exclusionary fear is probably why i update so much..? i know i do, and i know i've lost the occasional follower because of it, but oh well, you know. i'd rather have a small group of twitter friends who are all inclusive rather than sacrifice the full social fun of it to spare some random people who wouldn't care in the first place.
i'm trying to get my tumblr running to take some weight off my twitter, and where i can elaborate beyond 140, but it's just not too successful yet.

in More things - Ketchup cups on Seven 9s and 10s
far from crazy! i never take the top anything. in fact, i go further than second. i always grab stuff from the middle. you know, lift up several cups and take one from the mid section. etc. just call me howie mandel.

I've considered doing the same, just randomly grabbing from the middle of the stack, but the lack of consistency has always held me back.
Perhaps I'll try this technique on my next visit to a self service eatery.

One tactic I've used recently is to identify a few people that I'm following and give them a virtual-ultimatum (in my head). "If @3x1minus1 doesn't post something that makes me laugh, inspires me, or makes me learn something in the next day, I'm unfollowing her." That tends to work, and it helps me identify people that are just wasting my time.
As for Tumblr, I love it, but it too is becoming yet another time drain now that they've made it more "twitter-like" with following, et al. I really like the ability to quickly and easily post any type of content though, I just need to be careful not to follow too many.
I've been debating whether I want to find a new theme aside from my subtle customization of the default using the built-in tools, but really, I like the simple and not-noisy look of this layout. I just wish I could add a direct link to my other networks someplace on the page. Twitter, Flickr, etc.
