Well Gaybot, you got your wish. Things have gotten so bad now, that LL has been forced to close the grid.

I've noticed things getting progressively worse over the past month. It seems we're back where we were this time last year.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see another Open Letter sort of thing develop out of the debacle of late.

... oh, and as for whether things are the same, worse or better ....

... about the same really - other than last fortnight's total screwup.

But as screwups go - par for the course, and SL is just as much a gamble as ever - but hey, I'm an addict so I'll put up with a lot just to get my fix.

I put off downloading the first version of the voice viewer as I knew I'd be wasting my time with it - that the would be at least 1 updated version to fix whatever co**ups they embedded in the first viewer... and I was right.

I've now installed the latest viewer and so far I've had nothing but problems getting voice to be anywhere near stable. This was not a problem I had on either the Beta or the First Look Viewer Voice.

... and I still hard freeze regularly.

The latest viewer is tooooooooooo ooooo ooooo slow and laggy for my liking with voice turned on - so it's off, and I will continue to use my keyboard - and Skype when I wanna talk to someone in particular.

So why don't we get Telstra to sponsor a mentor group from existing SL residents in much the same way Lindens have helper people? Aussies helping Aussies makes more sense to me than someone from Arizona who thinks a Bigpond is a large fishing hole and that a 'dag' is a mis-spelt canine (and consequently an insult).

This is truly good news - so does this also mean we're going to get SL Big Sister? or SL's Funniest Home Videos? or maybe SL Survivor? now that would be a hoot

This is one Aussie who would have loved to have been there.

Oh well - we bow to the American behemoth again - and again the Aussies and Europeans don't get to go.

I've also heard a figure around that about 30% of the female avatars are actually run by males. How and where this came from I don't know, but it would be interesting to know the breakdown of male puppetmaster/female avatars and vice versa.

Maybe everyone needs heroes - or at the very least something/someone to measure themselves against - good or bad?

I've been using the offline IM ability ever since we began building our club. It's great - means I can still solve problems and manage issues via Yahoo while at work. Makes a great deal of sense given the time zone issues we all deal with. By increasing it to 5 days, it means I can respond to IMs in circumstances like now - where I'm travelling for work and can't get inworld at all - or even to my email each day.

5 O'Clock Somewhere is a beach and we love to see anyone there who wants to chill out and have a cruisy time. Great for chilling and catching up on the dreaded IMs, low lag beach that comes alive at the drop of a hat with instant parties for no other reason than we can.

There's a back-beach lagoon to laze in, a cave pool to have a swim or rendesvous in, shops (well 1 at the moment - looking for vendors at the moment) and hidden cuddle spots.

Offshore on the islands is a great Surf beach with Heather Goodliff waves and boards for sale - and a nude beach island - and a great waterfall off a volcano - with a grotto beneath.

And under the volcano is SL's only underwater club - the Downunder dance and watch the fish swim on the reef and wreck beneath the floor.
