in Album Review: Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings on Consequence of Sound
I have to agree. I spent all four years of high school with my ears glued to the Crows' albums, and ALL I WANTED was to see them live, sooooo badly. But then my obsession with them slowly began to wither as I waited for them to put out some new music. Soon their music ended up at the back of my shelf as my musical tastes began to mature, though it came out once in a while when I woke up with one of their songs stuck in my head.
So when I saw in a magazine that they were putting out a new album, I rushed right to the hypemachine to see if I could sample some of the new tracks. Upon first listen, I was unimpressed. But as a loyal fan, I gave it a couple more chances. When none of the tracks stuck I was so upset that I had an identity crisis- this man whose lyrics I had spent my whole life worshipping, was now so consumed with his own depression that he squeezed a painful album out, as it seems, just to put something out there. Honestly, I would have waited another TEN years if it meant that he could have kept this album in the studio to make it as phenomenal as all of their other albums. There's no reason he can't, he's backed by an awesome band of musicians. He needs to stop clinging to his old sound- it was great the first time, but now it's just being lazy. There's only so long that you can ride your past accomplishments before it's time to reclaim your pedastal.

in The Ten Thousand Villages Model on Wasatch Girl
WasatchGirl,

I'd be interested in learning more about Ten Thousand Villages, since we are doing a micro-entrepreneurs in 3rd world countries project through the Entrepreneur Center.

Except that instead of having brick-and-mortar, we'd be importing specialty items that can sell well online, but with an emphasis on creating a market for those products here in the U.S. in order to improve those economies.
