I've seen Boondocks off and on for years. I agree with your assessment of it, although I haven't bothered with the show itself. Sadly, some people feel try to feel like intellectuals without actually thinking. They just repeat factoids and cliches from people they aspire to resemble. You're probably right about its appeal to college students. They seem to be particularly susceptible to false profundity.

I've been watching coverage on CNN since the bombing occurred. It's awful. I can only think that Chrisitans should pray for God's mercy for all of us. I can't understand how a terrorist can believe that blowing up a wedding will accomplish anything, but I've been in enough rough situations to know that I am capable of plenty of violence. If Christ's gift of forgiveness is valid for me, it's valid for the terrorists too.
God have mercy on us all.

I once silenced an entire church dinner by sitting down at a table with a huge plate filled with food (which everyone else had too) and exclaiming:
"Ah, gluttony: my favorite sin."
I don't think we've been to a dinner at church since.

"Cool" is the best word to describe the Olympics. Even with the games' inevitable flaws and shortcomings, the sight of people pursuing sport as an almost inhuman level simply for the love of sport itself is cool.

Alas, Randy, the tendency seems to be everywhere. Accusations of censorship are made almost any time two people disagree about anything with serious emotional effects: SSA, politics, relion, anything. I fear that we have lost the ability to disagree gently with each other.

So many of us now are products of the broken marriages of the 60s and 70s that understanding marriage for what God intended is a real cognitive leap. We believers are badly needed (married and single) to model lives that reflect a spiritual understanding of marriage, and many of us need help learning what that is.

I'm so sorry you had such abuse in school. At least high school was something of an improvement. I hope you enjoy the reunion. My own 20th reunion is this week, but I won't be able to attend. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
