I have to agree... coming out to the Sunday portion of Podcamp was well worth the wake up and travel time. Glad to have met you and join in the conversations. both IRL and on Twitter...

StumbleUpon is one of the best kept secrets on the web IMHO. Where else can you post and share your content to an audience of ppl looking/stumbling for that type of content.

I stopped promoting at all in the social media scene and have instead stuck to stumbling and pay stumbling my posts. I would think the audience type would lead to better traction / readership. Far better traffic then what I've experienced on Twitter.

Hey Chip, Thats just good business sense. Anyone who'd outsource a core element of their product to a 3rd party without a contract is looking to have that product eventually hit a crisis should it fail.

Unless it's taking something that is in a Walled Garden and making it more open... then I whole heartedly support re-building it.

Great points Chris and definitely a sign we're turning the corner from a new style -> to the style... of learning.

It's always a great event when people connect and re-connect after not seeing each other for ages. One thing I liked about this Podcamp that might have been missed was the "many hands make the work light" experience.

So many friends and people I appreciate in this social scene were so busy sharing their knowledge that the opportunity to connect and relate wasn't as apparent as other Podcamp conferences.

But at the same time, there was so much knowledge and info shared, it was exciting to see so many ppl lit up with ideas related to the Podcasting experience.

Once again you're on the mark. It's also worth mentioning participating in online forums that are tied to the blog content you write.

But as always... you're on point!

I think if anything... the zine culture from the punk days needs to come back. Printing out some of your blog entries, show topics etc. add a cover and hand it out at events where ppl who would likely consume your content would be....

I've been doing that for my podcast with my fanzine (http://www.assembler.tv) The zine has easily driven more traffic back to the show then any forum posting. Taking the time to promote and share knowledge in a more world readable format has made something that could be considered disposable, a collectible.

Long live fanzine culture....

Love the points... I recently asked on my local message board who vlogs and was sad to see that the majority of them had no idea what that was... nor much interest in finding out.

Gotta change that on the quick fast.... or atleast find a local community that is open to give it a go.

"every day has it's season" ... and that seems like that is the most sensible and Canadian way look at the world. Great blog, and so true. One of the things that rang true in my head all VON was the phrase, "Survival is about being the most adaptable."

While not directly relevant, Jazz and improvisation is all about being adaptable.

This new media world of disruption is *SO* new that really is what you make it. I'm still discovering what/where/how that "it" is.
