Olbermann completely turned around Rummy's "fascist" remarks, firing them right back at the administration. I remember hearing Rummy utter that remark and yelling at the television (again).

As for this blog, I will be back. My oldest son has extreme ADHD with additional LDs (I was diagnosed in the 5th grade but my mother told them it was nonsense - I've since gotten myself treated). I remember the Headmaster of my son's school saying to me at the end of his first grade, after reading his diagnosis, "These kids don't go to college." Well, that kid just graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a dual degree in Communication Studies and English, which includes a Certificate in Professional Writing. He's still in Wilmington (if he didn't float away last night in Ernesto), running a surfing magazine with a bunch of his ADHD friends. They're about to put out their ninth issue, which will be distributed in 31 states.

I also use a pseudonym on my blog, not because I don't want my blogger friends to know who I am, but because I don't want my blog to turn up in searches using my real name. :)

Re: ADHD Success Stories

Wow. First of all, thanks so much for the shout out. I *am* so very proud of this force of nature who is my oldest, but it wasn't easy. In fact, it was hard. I read Liam's heartbreaking story, knowing how easily it can go that way. I also read your success stories in this post and want to add that, in a moment of desperation, I pulled my son out of his public high school in April of his sophomore year and he finished high school at a private alternative school. I doubt very seriously if he would be where he is today, otherwise. We couldn't afford it but we found a way and it made all the difference. I decided a long time ago that these aren't so much learning disabilities as they are teaching disabilities and that many of the negative aspects of the accompanying behavior come in response to being forced into a system in which they (we) do not fit.

Thanks again for the shout out. Wonderful blog, drums. :)

Re: ADHD Awareness Day

Dang it! I wasn't paying any attention and missed it!! ;)

Seriously, thanks for the heads up. I'll have to come back tonight (when I'm not at work) and check out the links.

Re: Ashy Skies

Sure makes for pretty pictures though.

Re: The hard life of a roadie…

You will miss it more than you can possibly imagine. I am in my final year of kid-at-home mothering. The Youngest is a senior. I try not to wince at the 6:00 alarm or the baseball games that stretch into the ten o'clock hour. It is over in the blink of an eye. I blubbered like a baby through Middle Son's last French horn concert and I so miss the sounds of his mandolin in the background all the time (he's the one in New Orleans).

Hearty congrats to Sticks. It sounds like he did a great job!

Re: Giving Demolition Derby a Bad Name

Maybe it feel off the back of a truck? That would explain both jumping the wall and the writing on the windshield. Pretty strange though.

Re: 12 things I want to be thankful for

A weekend without football? You mean, actually *going* to games? I can't count how many we've watched since Wednesday and The Youngest is on his way to watch Georgia v. Georgia Tech this minute. :)

Re: 12 things I want to be thankful for

Exactly! Field peas and greens (preferably collards) are a nice southern touch. Main course? Pork ribs or chops. Yummm.

Re: 10 Most Extraordinary Twitter Updates

This Twitter stream has haunted me all week. I wandered into it Tuesday between 6:50 "She's still requiring massive amounts of oxygen and constant breathing treatments. Docs are still trying to figure out the problem," and 7:01 "They're going to intubate her, I'm freaking out." "Her" was the tweeter's 17 month old daughter, Maddie, and she passed away that evening. Since then, largely via Twitter, money is being raised, not just to defray burial costs but for the March of Dimes in #Maddie's honor. I don't know these people. I didn't even follow her on Twitter before that tweet, but it's been heavy on my heart and in my thoughts all week. http://twitter.com/mamaspohr http://tinyurl.com/cyahnq
