in Box Office: Spartans wins Friday; Rambo should win weekend; Cloverfield tanks! on /Film
Not surprised.
I saw Cloverfield on Monday, and I wasn't too impressed. Novel idea, but it doesn't make you leave the theater with a satisfied feeling. You're just as lost as when you walked it, so you don't get that sense of resolution that most people desire.
Maybe the sequel will be filmed from a normal perspective and fill in the details.

in Movie Review: Die Hard 4 - A Case Of Foul Play on /Film
You. Are. High.
I finally saw this movie last night, and I thought it was GREAT. Just under the original in my rankings.
It was funny. It was action packed. It was Die Hard.
Something tells me that no Die Hard movie would ever be good enough for you. Lighten up, Francis.

"The characters are one-dimensional"
Its audience is teenagers. It's about vampires. Come on. You were expecting depth ? :) People once swore by M.A.S.H. being full of depth and character development, too. It's tv, not film for crying out loud.
"teenaged girls in America who need to think their absent daddies are bastards"
Name any drama show on TV that doesn't have as its characters' motivations a link to their parents. Again, no news there.
I think your review of Buffy is more about how you feel about Postrel than how you feel about the show, and how you feel about Postrel says more about you than it does about her.
