here's my two pence:
1. big or small Malaysian community doesn't really matter, IMHO. you're going abroad to experience new thgs, why limit urself to msian community, u know what i mean? dont worry bout having no one to relate to. with ur personality u'll have so many friends u'd have a hard time deciding who to hang out with!

2. penn's degree is more recognized in our part of the world? really? this i dont know. but does it matter if u're creme de la creme? no right. if u're good u're good. :) i think columbia is a more prestige school wherever you go though.

3. your aunt is in penn, but nyc is not too far away from penn so problem solved! :)

4. wharton arrh. i dunno wor liddat. but even if it is the best business school n u wanna do a dual degree there, i STILL think that being a scholar in Columbia wins hands down. i mean, the opportunities that you're gonna get as a scholar there is limitless!!!!!!! seriously. and u'll get a huge network of other scholars from all over the country which would be extremely useful. in the real world out there its not what you know dear, its who you know. ;)

5. free broadway tickets!!!!! need i say more? :P

p.s. i love mcdreamy tooooo. watch Enchanted! he's absolutely gorgeous! ok maybe i exaggerate. but still delectable nonetheless. anyways. go columbia, no need to think anymore. its really THE better deal. :) ok no, u should decide for urself. 'this only my opinion darl. good luck!

haha if u'd have given me a snail, i'd tell u bout my encounters with them over here when they kept appearing from nowhere after rain and i kept stepping on them and felt so sad and emo. so fragile their lives, i felt so bad for them i had the urge to write them all obituaries. reaaaallyyy, im not kidding. so sad.

- coffee. the aroma of it is enough to make me feel pumped up.
- good weather.
- successful people who started out as nothing.
- certain friends who're forever motivated.
- challenges. the more difficult something is, the more i wanna conquer it.
- discouragement. different from you haha.
- my end goal.
- and YOU. yes you do, believe it or not, you motivate me tremendously. or at least, the stuff you write do. =) (and im sure im not the only one)

i hope knowing your words motivate other ppl gives you strength to strive for the best too! cheers. :)

su ann, your post made me tear. i cry for the state of malaysia, for the low morale amongst us malaysians, and the possibility of the imminent dissent as jimmy put it.

but most of all, i cry for us. the people who knew so well about the current state, yet couldn't do much about it. or rather, wouldn't. from the comments above, i can see that a whole lot of ppl out there are aware of the illusion and situation back home. yet how many of us are willing to stop bribing the policemen when we're caught? hardly anyone, myself included.

all these laments and bitterness, or be it ignorance, they don't make much difference, if no one is willing to take the smallest step in making a change. everyone is cheering for what you've voiced out, everyone's feeling it. yet most have given up.

meanwhile. its easier to sit back, enjoy a hot cuppa coffee and re-read your brilliant post and anticipate more to come. i feel sorry for myself..
