in TS-Elliott - Social Psychology of Twitter Groups and Social Networking on TS_Elliott
I think this is a great post! I'm going to admit I've never really thought about breaking down social media quite this way, but you are right on-- "Be valuable if you want people to value you." I can't wait to read more of your posts!

I know it's already been said, but who decides who's a celebrity?
And how do you decide who owns a brand, unless it's trademarked...

This is a great story! I can't believe police would use taxpayer dollars-- let alone $60k worth-- to pay for flip flops for drunk women.

in Bloggers in Pajamas, Sarah Palin Hates You on Menstrual Poetry
So much to say here... but I can't seem to find my way out of my parents' basement. Is she freaking kidding me? Here's what I want to know: when will I have to stop hearing and seeing about her?

Well, I definitely think you showed some restraint in even humoring her. I don't think I could have remained calm enough, I would have just walked away immediately for fear of saying some un-Christian like things to her.

Thanks for posting, I missed this last night. Tina Fey was great, but I'm still not sure I'm ready to think any part of Sarah Palin is humorous.

I have a love hate relationship with Victoria's Secret myself. You want to know what her secret is? She's a slut who has never eaten a french fry or piece of pizza in her life!
And I always delete those damn e-mails! Plus, to top it off, they eliminated my favorite style of underwear!

menstrualpoetry I can definitely sympathize with their frequent eliminations of underwear. It seems that every single time I find a style that I love and feel great, they're gone the next time I want to buy more. They need to start doing surveys or something or putting together reports of how many of a certain style/brand of underwear sell and then keep the good ones around. I've had several styles be discontinued while they keep saying "Well we have all new stuff to put out." And that the "new stuff" doesn't come close to being as good of an item they previously had.

in Body Image, Magazines, Tyra Banks on Menstrual Poetry
I love this one! While I don't watch her show, I do love Tyra Banks. It really pissed me off when they were saying she was fat in that picture. Plus, she was one of the first models to admit they airbrush the shit out of those and admit she was a real person with cellulite like the rest of us!

in I Certainly Don’t Wanna Discuss that Issue–Birth Control or Women on Menstrual Poetry
I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. It seems more and more obvious to me every day men continue to run this country and until women speak up more it's never going to change. It is 2008 people, not 1958!

in Sexy Nerd Girl Fanaticism on Menstrual Poetry
Why can't men just be attracted to a woman for exactly who she is? If I knew the answer to that I'd be making tons of money and have an endless string of dates. She should be sexy for being who she is, whether it's a nerd or just intelligent & successful. As for the term girl, it doesn't bother me at all. I use the term boy in my writing as well and have already prefaced it's not meant to be disrespectful. I call women girls and men boys.

keeperofdakeys please that one is easy (maybe because I am a male), the answer is a male's instinct
I am a male nerd and personally I resent the male sex instinct, it makes me utterly ashamed to be alive

as for calling them 'girls', to me that and 'boys' points to the fact that they are not grown up, as in inexperienced and not very wise.

This is a great post! And of course very disturbing as well. And having spent 13 years in TV news, knows it's hard to believe the media doesn't spend more time discussing the real issues.

I'm torn. I'm still addicted to Twitter, but the constant crashing is very disappointing. I do like the interactivity on Plurk. More people seem to respond to your comments, which makes it a lot more fun.
