Whilst my reading probably isn't as broad as others I've found Michael E. Gerber's 'The E Myth' a very interesting read as well as some older books. I suppose I am more of a tactical reader in that sense but I really do enjoy anything that gets me thinking and gets me excited about business.

The geeksville guys were great, it was about 5pm so they offered me a beer - it was a relaxed atmosphere. Part of that I think is due to the mindset that you walk in with. If you walk in with nothing to lose and everything to gain then it becomes an enjoyable experience. I was actually really excited about it all, so at no point did I feel uncomfortable.

In saying that though, they really do throw some hard questions, things you thought you'd thought of or cleared up just get drilled into.

It started off as three guys, then half way through the presentation another 4 or so walked in. They all came from different aspects of business.

This is almost worth a follow up post...

I'm not really in a position yet to discuss the outcome yet.

Each of the guys in the room did bring a different area of expertise and experience to the table. Which was great because I got a range of feedback from each area.

Thanks Malcolm. Pitch08 sounds interesting but I'm booked out on Saturday.

I'd recommend going along as well to anyone that wants to learn more about it.

At the end of the day nothing beats doing it yourself. You can read things, hear things, think through things, watch things, but when you get into the room for yourself it's a whole different story.

I almost look forward to when things DONT workout (not as much as I look forward to things working out). I look forward to when things don't work because I know there is always something I can takeaway from it and apply to the future.
