The idea of doing a monthly thing is a great idea. I love burgers, but I don't know that I can eat 5 in a day.
Popburger is good, and would make for a good second stop since the burgers are small. Dumont is really quite great - and actually not such a bad trek since it's only two stops into Brooklyn on the L.
I thought Rare was awful, actually. Their fries are amazing but the burger was awful. I hear great things about Paul's right off of St. Mark's, but their service is horrible, so if speedy is necessary, that's out. Kool Bloo is run by the people who run BBQ Pit, and their burgers are amazing and huge. If I eat one, I usually don't need dinner. Last time I ate there, I had a burger with onions, grilled ham and American cheese. Sigh.

Paul's Place is absolutely amazing-- by far my favorite burger I've had... ever. I was going to say in the city, but really, I don't think I've had a better burger. Their service actually isn't bad either. It's not super quick, but definitely not terrible either.
