Congrats, my friend. You are one smart cookie and we are all lucky to have you in the blogosphere. And even more lucky that you help the newbies (of which I was one...). Thank you!

No disrespect to this award but this made me laugh out loud! "especially the Silver Anvil which always sounds like it should be dropped on the winner’s head."

Thanks for the laugh on a Monday morning!

Yikes!! "Customer Service" really isn't in their vocabulary, is it? Customer Service is much more than just a mailing, it's the way you treat your customers and potential customers across the board.

I reiterate (from my comment yesterday), if this is such a huge issue to them, they should change the verbiage on their website to explain things a bit and they wouldn't have this issue.

in Pitu, welcome to the Web on Community Guy
Like you, I assume this isn't the first time this has happened to the company. Maybe that should be their first clue that they need to update their site for the people requesting a store location like you did. Or, give you the option like they do in most stores now when they ask, "Would you like to give your phone number so we can send you coupons?" Then you can make an educated decision about whether or not to give the information. Pitu should update their site to allow you to just leave an email address for dealer info only or, should you want coupons etc, you can input your address. They shouldn't get all huffy in subsequent emails. Geez.

Regardless of the drinks of choice have a great vacation!!!

in Writing from the road on Scobleizer
Talking about effective signs reminded me of something I saw a good 10 years ago, but still vividly remember. I was in Auburn, Alabama and started to notice big, huge white paw prints on the roads. If you followed them, they led you to Auburn's stadium where the Auburn Tigers play. you can not miss them, even if you wanted to. Very effective.

No apologies necessary! Your posts have been so personal and packed with substance as you go through this journey, Robert. You have shared so much with us all, I only hope it has helped you in some way. As many have said, it is your blog; write when you feel like it about what you feel like writing about. Safe travels to you and Maryam.

in The questioning of career, life, family, love follows grief (taking a week off of blogging) on Scobleizer
Robert - my thoughts are with you, Maryam and your family during this sad, sad time. After a recent loss a friend told me something so simple, yet very wise. "Treat yourself well; do good, gentle things for yourself. Grieve the way you need to, not the way others think you should."
Buying Maryam a Beemer? You are right, life is short and she's a wildly special lady that deserves good things. I'm sure you will both enjoy it.
Safe travels

in Following the news on Marketing Begins At Home
"But sometimes life becomes a bit more important than the latest product release"
Well said! I, too, found it to be awful that Robert is getting pitches now. Unlike the 'traditional media' where you may not have the ability to know personal tidbits about the writer, it is just the opposite with bloggers. If one blogger is new to you, during a launch you may not have the time to research what they were talking about six months ago, but surely you should read about what was written that week!!! I would think that would be a 'no-brainer' for anyone pitching a blogger. It is times like these that it is no wonder PR folks get a bad rep.

in As mother’s day closes on Scobleizer
Robert - it seems as though you are experiencing the ying and yang of life. Although you are going through a gut-wrenching time with your mom right now, it sounds as though you are having an incredible experience with your family and your mom's community. This is an amazing gift that I'm sure your mother never thought she'd give you and your brother(s), but it is a priceless one. Because of these circumstances you are learning about pieces of your mom that many never get to know.
You and your family are still in my thoughts and prayers.

in Bawling over bowling on Scobleizer
Robert - I'd missed your blog for a few days, but read Maryam's this morning and read her touching tribute to your mom. You are blessed with a wonderfully close family. That is nothing to take for granted and yes, tell them at any chance you get how much they mean to you. On your blog, on the phone, in person - however you can. No apologies ever necessary for that. My thoughts and prayers will be with you, Maryam and your whole family during this time.

Some good tunes in there, Jake. Thanks for sharing them. In my humble opinion a few personal tidbits are always nice, when they fit in with what you are talking about.

in I gotta take more days off on Scobleizer
Robert - thank you for your last two posts. I think they touch on things we all struggle with - work loads and not enough time. We tend to think that the weight of the world is on us and then we hear a story like Jimmy Wales' and it stops us short. For most of us, life is pretty good - we just need to make the time to step back and enjoy what we have a little more than we do now.
So, yes, step back. Don't turn on a computer for a full day (yikes!) and spend some time with your lovely wife. Enjoy the good life you have because, from what we see here, you do have a good life filled with wonderful people.
