As someone who always wanted to be a writer, I often find myself shocked to realize that I'm living this dream. Of course, the dream is smattered regularly with bits of reality. It's not all books and beaches with my laptop. But there is enough in the dream intact for me to feel as though I'm truly living it. Now the trick is to learn to be happy with that while also striving to dream for more!

I think it's a supply and demand issue. If people are out there willing to take these jobs then employers can continue to offer them only at this low rate. Those of us who hold out and really demand what we're worth (or close to it at least) in these tough times can help increase rates if we band together and refuse to apply for those low-paying jobs.

The updates on your social networking are really interesting. I think that a lot of online writers / bloggers are going through a period right now of really trying to figure out the best way to maximize use of Facebook/Twitter without spending excessive time on them. It's a tough new part of the job to figure out!

There's been a lot of hype about Jajah lately (see what I mean here: http://blogs.pcworld.com/phoneconnection/archiv...). A lot of what the company is offering is great, including some of the features of Jajah Direct. But it's not all as perfect as the press releases make it sound. Thanks for pointing out a few of the issues so we can see a more realistic view of what using Jajah is like. Not bad, just not perfect.

You're right on the Brazilian Girls - I meant to move that to "with the band" and I neglected it, probably because I think Sabina Sciubba completely stands out in the group. They're playing tonight in SF with She Wants Revenge.

You know, I tend to agree, although reports online are saying that it's Kanye again ... the official "for sure" line-up will be available on the Bumbershoot website on July 11th.

All of the best shows I've ever been to were ones that had a range of different music at them - instead of the same sound over and over - and it looks like Coachella is going to do it again. Any place where I can see a band I've loved since I'm-not-gonna-say-how-long (RHCP) and a band I just saw recently (Kooks) is the place for me!
