He was speaking at a Black church. There is a real problem in the Black community of fathers abandoning their children Every one of my female cousins that are divorced have absentee fathers. I am not unique in our community.

It is an American problem, but the incidence in Black families is higher. This is a fact we can only resolve by confronting. Do not have a problem with the truth.

He was at a Black church. His father abandoned him. He lived in a community of Blacks where some fathers abandoned children. How could he not speak about it. Most Black men that are taking care of their families talk about this problem.

I do not understand why this issue is off limits to any, but avid racist. All folks who want the Black community to thrive should bemoan the high incidence of father abandonment in the Black community.

All CBC members that supported Hillary should not be considered 'snakes'. I believe the New York delegation decision to support their Senator was absolutely appropriate. She was their Senator. She had helped all of them raise money. They worked with her on New York issues. Obama had 100% support form the Democratic leaders in Illinois, even when the leaders did not support each other. She deserved the same. Also, Rangel was instrumental in getting her to quit when she did and how she did.

The results of the tracking polls are below. Gallup and Rasmussen poll daily. They combine the most recent three days as one result.
They survey 2700 to 3000 people over the three days. The Gallup showed a 3 point spread three days ago. The Rasmussen showed a 2 point lead four days ago.

Obama has led in the Gallup and Rasmussen since June.

The move in Detroit is measured and appropriate for followers of the Mayor. I agree he needs to go, but the city needs to find a way for it to happen. He will be gone soon. Did it take too long? Yes, but I believe it will happen and hopefully the people of Detroit will have learned a lesson in choosing leaders.

I read the information from Kurtz. It is explained as fact, the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) does not own the the records. Some lower library officials gave permission to view the records based on the normal process for viewing any records of special collections. The managers were notified by the donors a deed for the records had not been executed and in addition the records were not organized by the library. Since the library did not own the records, it could not give permission for your boy to review them.

By the way the records are not on the Obama -Ayers relationship, they are on a foundation they both served as board members. They both stated this is the extent of any relationship. Ayers is on the faculty of UIC.

The lack of organization means the library does not know what was in the records. It is absolutely appropriate to prohibit access to uncatalogued documents. The researcher could still or damage the records. It is better to create images of the records and then allow access to who so ever.

Joe L. sincerely believes Israel can be extinguished. He believes violence in the service of the chosen people is virtuous. The Old Testament Bible teaches this lesson and others. The New Testament Bible teaches a specialness based on belief not blood.

His violence is OK to support Jews view was not obvious before Gore picked him. His belief in his moral superiority was in full display as he condemned Bill Clinton for adultery. He is also now in love with the idea of himself as non partisan wise man. This combination convinces him he has not lied to the Democrats and he has not criticized Obama.

Add in a little envy at Obama's success and his absolute failure as a Democrat and you get a bitter old man.

Mc Cain does not believe abortion should be left to the states, he believes the right to privacy (abortion) should be repealed by the Supreme Court. Homosexual marriage issues are left to the states There is no federal law establishing homosexual marriages. There are no federal court case establishing homosexual marriages.

Socially conservative judges have whims and are activist also.

Do your values include cheating on your wife to marry a younger and richer woman? Do your values include lieing about your opponent? McCain policy call for individual purchase of health care. This will make insurance more expensive for most as the insurance company drop the ill. In addition this would be a grand experiment because this type of system exist no where on earth. Health care is a public good like streets, garbage pick up, and education. It should be universal.

He has offered no ideas to end wasteful spending. The biggest waste is the war in Iraq. He will continue to spend money on the military so he can be belligerent. We need peace not war. We need discussion not bluster. His ideas are no ear marks, but he promotes earmarks for his people.

Current events has shown his judgment on Iraq as wrong,. there were no WMD. Iraq was not apart of the attack on the WTC. The surge did not change the war. The ethnic cleansing was nearly complete. there are over 2 million Iraqi refugees outside the country. The people live in Sunni and Shiite ghettos. Wanting war is not strength.

Hearing something out means nothing. saying McCain is similar to Bush and Bush was wrong is not Bush bashing.

The failure was going into Iraq. NO WMD. NO connection to WCC attacks. Inspectors wher in Iraq looking for WMD. They looked everywhere we told them Iraq was hiding WMD. Iraqis said teverything had been destroyed, but we did not keep good records. A few more months and we all could have been sure there were no WMD. Hans Blix was right. George Bush and the CIA were wrong.

Obama did not support a quick withdrawal. He did propose a 16 month time line. This seems reasonable to me considering we should have never been there.

It is an enbarassment if the government misleads the people onn the need for war. It is an embarassment if the government does not plan for how to end the conflict.. It is embarassment if the USA tortures.

The organization that failed in Katrina was staffed by Bush. His attitude toward FEMA caused him to appoint incompetent managers, because he thought it did not matter. The leader of an organoization is sometimes responsible for the failure of the organization.

Obama plan anticipates your concern and he leans on the current group insurance plans in the USA. He does not propose single payer. As for paying for it, we are paying for this system in poor health.

This is something the country needs to move toward. We are paying for this system by people doing things they would not do to have insurance, taking and staying in the wrong jobs., not starting businesses, and several other decisions.

We do have the money, the excessive Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

I am sorry you have no sympathy for people suffering. You can have sympathy without thinking the government should help.

DOD could us a cut. Why are we spending so much money on the military. If we had a smaller military, maybe we would not start so many wars.

Now who is using talking points? The reason you give for Obama's proposal is a McCain talking point. Calling it appease does not mean it is wrong. The point is you said he called for a quick withdrawal. He did not. When that is pointed out to you , you label it as appeasement of his base. First of all that makes no sense. he was aginst the war. He called out the reasons. No WMD. The war was not necessary to resolve any issues with Iraq. Iraq was not part of WCC attack.

Because he was against the motives of the war calling for a withdrawal would be consistent with his original analysis. So it is not appeasement. Besides there is nothing morally wrong with wanting to end a policy or practice your constituents are against. As a matter of fact, it makes good sense for the nation, unless the policy is vital to security interest of the nation. This war is not.

Brownie was fired. But we need more than people held responsible, we need responsible people in government. It is not important that Bush fired him. The man was unqualified for the job. He should have never been hired. In addition his boss, Homeland Secty, failed his responsibility at the time and Bush continues to fail NOLA by not making it a greater priority for restoration.

I think the speech by Hillary was good. She promoted Obama. She referenced the woman's movement which is appropriate for her. I was not offended by the use of Harriet Tubman, she was from New York and her words, "keep going" were the right words and led to the right words for the end of the speech "start going"

I am not sure what the critiques of the speech wanted. I don't think she needs to take back any statements. That was the campaign. They were said in the campaign. The campaign is over. She can still believe he is inexperienced and the best choice for very good reasons.

Not wanting war is not weakness. Wanting war is weakness. The military view that any war we are in, we must win is not based in the needs of the country, but on the needs of the military.

Obama and McCain are not needed to write the bill. Bills in the legislative body of the United States are written by the committees responsible for the activity. Tha Banking committees of the house and senate write banking legislation. Neither Obama or McCain are on the banking committee. They have no responsibility to write the bill. Dodd and Sen Shelby R (ranking member) will write the bill on the Senate side with input from interested Senators through the majority and minority leaders.

Obama has been dsicussing it with Dodd and Paulson. McCain should be talking to Shelby and Paulson also. He has not, that is why you see no GOP Senators on TV supporting the McCain move. They will not, because they know it is a sham.

The values you list to be considered a small business are gross receipts. Thevalues for taxes are income. I fail to see why small businesses or employees who make over 250,000 a year should not pay the same amount in taxes. The income is being taxed not the business.

The small business owner does have an opportunity to decrease income by investing in his business. The small business owner that earned over 250,00 has benefited form the exorbitant Bush tax cuts. The country is in deep debt and has some serious responsibilities in the future. The people who have benefited the most should begin to pay their fair share of taxes.

This is the advantage Obama had over every candidate for President since Ronald Reagan and perhaps Paul Tsongas. He wanted to do things for the country, that he felt uniquely qualified to execute. I believe RR, TP, and perhaps Jimmy Carter wanted to move the country in a certain direction. RR was charismatic and succeeded. Carter and Tsongas were not good politicians. Carter has proven he is a moral person with genuine concern for justice and development.

None of the serious candidates in 2008 and 2004 were as in touch with the "do" part of President as Obama. The "be" president ambition will lead you to major in minors, as HRC and Johnny Mac campaigns did when they started losing.

There is a lesson there for all of us. What are you to do as a parent, Christian, Muslim, sister, brother, spouse, child, nephew/niece, cousin, uncle/aunt, etc.

There are few, if any pure African descenadants of slaves in America. My maternal Grandmothers' family was most likely Cherokee in Middle Tennesee that chose to live as Blacks rather than move to the Indian Territory (Oklahoma). Her father took his family out there and came back to tennnesee because the people lived in tents. Her maiden name, Crawford, is a recognized as anglicized Cherokee name. Look at the Crawofrds you know. None that I know are dark,

My Grandfather and his siblings are the likely offspring of a white man and their Black mother. I write this to note that my personl infomration is aligned with Henry Louis Gates analysis of the semi-random famous sample in his public research. Race in America is very much cultural and genetic.

You said it all for Jesse Jr. He is a good congressman. He needs to settle down his language just a bit. He needs to get a little more cmfrotable in his voice, like Harold Ford. His future in statewide politics is over, but there is a lot to accomplish by being a presence in the US House.

I believe he was honest in his dealings with the Governor, because he does not have a strong donor base(can't raise large cash) and he is smart enough to avoid traps that would make him seem similar to his father seems. He can be a strong Black voice for the most progressives policies in the congress.

Almost all HBCUs devloped during and because of segregation. MOrris brown is owned by the AME church. But the church in Georgia and the USA can not afford to rescue the school. Some HBCUs will dissolve. It is sad, but it is the cost of an open society. I attended Michigan State and graduated from Howard. I send money to Howard, but I care for the succes of both schools.

Emil Jones was being considered as caretaker appointee, Of course, Valerie Jarret was also on the Blago shortlist before the arrest.

Nobody is going to be pushed into anything by Bobby Rush. Rep. Bobby Rush has no credibility outside his district. If Burris and Rush make this a Black thing in the age of Obama they will get little support. Reid and the Senate have spoken. Obama the PE has spoken. Burris finished third in the Dem primary to Blago. Blago thanked him for pulling Black votes from the second place contestant, a Black man at the time.

People do immoral things that are absolutely legal, (GW Bush).

1. Blagoyovich tried to sell the Senate appointment.
2. Any appointment he makes to the Senate is tainted by the previous attempt to sell.

1) If you know your cousin is a shoplifter, 2) anything he sells you is tainted by the high probability it was stolen.

It is that straight forward and simple. Just because it is a James Brown CD instead of Paul Anka, does not make it a good thing.

The Secty. Of State, Jesse White (AA-Dem), stated previously he was not going to certify. This is a two step process. Burris must suit for the certification before and win. When that happens he will approach the Senate. The Senate will reject him based on the taint issue. That will then be litigated. If Burris wins then he will have the seat. The Democrats would have fought for the integrity of the process by opposing the tainted appointment and the rule of law will prevail.

This has always been the way it was going to play out. All the big time ballers and shot callers have known this for some time. Burris knew this when he showed up. I believe he showed up to create spin and noise.

Always cheering for the brother or sister even when they are wrong. It is this instinct that has ruined Zimbabwe. This instinct almost ruined the USA further, if whites had rejected Obama for McCain. Southern whites still choose their tribe over morality and the region stays backwards.

The fact that Reid said it would happen this way means nothing to you. Burris said he should not make the appointment. Danny Davis turned down the appointment. The legislature is rushing to impeach him so he can do no more harm.

None of these things mean anything to you? Perhaps you have not adjusted your racism meter since Obam was elected.

Ronald Ervin McNair, Ph.D. a Black astronaut died January 28, 1986 aboard Challenger Space Shuttle, was also from South Carolina. McNair would have been 58 last October 21.

If the CBC is about constiuents, shouldn't other congressman form other idstricts be invited. Could the CBC exist because the membere share an interest and a point of view. The Blue Dog caucus is based on the views and interest of the members not the status of the citizens.

I do not believe CBC is about constiuents. It is about the member. Ellsion and Burris, once seated, will be members.

Rep. Milt Patterson (D-Chicago) was the lone vote against impeaching the governor. Patterson, from Chicago's Southwest Side, said after the roll call that he didn't feel it was his job to vote to impeach the governor. He declined comment on whether he approved of the job Blagojevich is doing.

No it does not. Everything does not have to have a final answer. We need more ambiguity in our lives. I enjoy the Bowl games because they still have collegiate spirit. A playoff system will generate into corporate party places.

Some of the criticisms here of meek are similar to the criticisms of Obama, not drinking the Black folks Kool Aid. I am particularly sensitive as mmany bourgeoisie Blacks may have experienced.

My dad played golf. About 50-75 other Blacks in our mid sized midwestern city played golf. I was a smart kid and an only child. My peers accused me of thinking and acting white. We were all struggling. My parents struggled for fair employment just like theirs. I ate beans and neckbones just like they did.

late in life a friend of mine and I coined a phrase for this attitude, "Charging admission to be Black" If your Black experience is different from mine, then you are not Black enough. We saw this in "Barack was raised by a white family and his father is African. He has no slave heritage. He is not Black enough" Now there are people judging Brother Meek as lacking because he backed Hillary Clinton not Obama early on. Some how that says something negative about his support for the Black community.

There is no charge to be Black. All of respond to this sick racism in our individual ways. Each response is real. Some responses are more ethical, uplifting, positive and couragous than others, but they all are a Black response to racism.

I have been angry at my wife and said some foul things. They have been mostly exclamations, "F U" and such. I may have said "go to H". I could write those words on my best day. But I agree, anybody that could be that dispararging of a loved one, call them a cunt, could not use language that profound, loving, and honest.
