Good point, ive not seen this discussed any where, ive never bought a font but often thought about it and then discovered a free alternative, free fonts normally dont contain all the characters of the set which can be annoying, and they can quickly become widely used and common, i might actually start buying some fonts, buy i guess they have to be the right price if im honest.

yea agreed styletime is creating a massive buzz and making every one feel alive in the process which is excellent, hes doing a great job for blog action day and managed to rake in a whole bunch of awesoem prizes, the donate button on his site is now working ( i think) so go donate some money and have a chance of winning one of them.

Its always exciting to hear about a redesign and over haul, its excellent that you are still developing new skills, i think its vital to break away from the default and learn some thing on top of other skills just keep you thinking and active.

Just been looking at your illustrations pretty good stuff, the george michael one reminds me of max payne the video game, has that aura about it haha, you still do illustration as well?

I was actually thinking about this same thing, that when you make a really good post its actually forgotten about a couple of weeks later because of new posts, yet people who are new to a blog will not see it, actaully thinking now a "featured section" and "popular articles" section could be a good thing to show articles that you want to keep at the top but obviously only so many can be shown or indeed a repost which i never thought of, good stuff

Yeah it it hit digg front page, while a few people complain that they couldnt possible read them all, its still a really useful resource for finding new sites that you may have not know about otherwise, Thank you colorburned.

Awesome!, i just read some of the type and typography book in store and referenced it in my latest article. i was really impressed by it and was so close to buying it, ya know what i think im guna get it, ill see what you have to say about the other books too.

also would it be possible to add some random pictures from inside the books such as this one, to see what there dishing out, or a little vid, dont want to be pushy tho haha

Thoughts: One thing you could possibly try is reducing the stroke weight around the face / mouth, it appears too thick to me at a glance. maybe...

Pretty hard this branding your self malarky, ive tried to come up with a feasable brand for my self many times and just cant ... (haha)

Apreciated that you did a revision on the comments you received. if im totally honest theres just something no quite right still from my view, its really hard to put a finger on. ( that probably doest help much.)

im sure youll keep us posted on any further developments its really intresting to read about personal branding.

Ive never really thought about packaging coming from a web design background, but this got me thinking back to when i first bought my zune player (i know microsoft , dont hate me hehe) i was so chuffed with the box and kept it on a shelf even when i moved house, really good reading.

Great start to the series of posts, i was very close to buying diffraction last week im still trying to decide haha, i normally buy a ream of printer paper to write ideas on , it gets messy but serves it purpose, might invest in a small book tho to put near my bed as thats when i have the best ideas.

making the twitter post easy to retweet is good, keeping it short and not taking all the characters up allows people to add "retweet" to the message.

I watched a Tv program and they were talking about composers and that their true master pieces were created when they were grey and old becasue it took them so long to master there niche.

I guess if you work at something long enough you could call your self an expert but you may only but an expert in a certian part of you job eg. web designer > coder > php coder < expert at php not expert web designer or expert coder. can you cover all the social medias and market everything, do the same rules apply!

I think i might start calling myself a scientist because i like experimenting with certain mediums but by no means an expert.

I just noticed the PR update today, im always intrestd in PR rank but its not the be all and end all of a site, but its a good indication of who is linking to you, my site went from PR 0 (the birth) - PR 4 ( Month 3 ) and latest upate PR 5 ( month 6 ) i wouldnt be surprised if it goes back to 4 though!

I try my best not to twitter on week ends so i take a break from twitter in that respect, and i also have the same rule about working on week ends, its good to have a cut off point and something to look forward to weeks ends are a good time to get your head straight from all the previous organised chaos haha.

Monday is the day for your texture post on DS! ive already started experimenting with them in my own work hehe.

Its a good point i try to tackle like half a big to do and then do some little ones and then come back to the big one to finish it off!

Starting out with wordpress can be a little confusing,but after youve got the basics its starts to get fun! looking forward the the wordpres theme and the textures tomo.

These were created by soaking A4 pieces of paper in a tray filled with food colouring and then left to dry in the sun.
