in Wren Won’t Give In. No Peavy on The Launching Pad
JB, if we do not get Peavy, it is truly not the end of the world. If we lose Escobar without a back up plan, then we have lost. I have thought that the price was too high to begin with.

in Why Jurrjens Didn’t Win the ROY on The Launching Pad
For me, I thought that he had a strong case, but I just did not think that it was really strong enough. I am just glad to see that he was even nominated.

in Our Loss is Your Gain on The Launching Pad
You know, it is funny that you bring up Willie. I was just talking the other day to someone that he would would have made a fine first baseman for the Braves. And who do we have over there right now????

in Peavy to the Braves Looking Like a Certainty on The Launching Pad
JB, I would be fine with Kelly, but Yunel is the future, At least at second we can go with Prado who is not a bad choice. As for Peavy, this would make a great addition but what is the cost to get such a player and is it worth it in the long run.

Everyone talks about the Umps sucked in calling. From what I saw, they sucked equally for each side.

I knew there had to be a better explanation than the Braves just stunk this year.

in Again…You’re Welcome, Phils on The Launching Pad
JB, as I said to Bud, it is nice to be able to spoil some games as we did with the Mets, but I would rather be watching us in a race.

in Grading a Player’s Real Value on The Launching Pad
JB, the one thing that I liked that you touched on is the fact that Tex did not do what he was brought in to do. Think back with Fred McGriff; a powerhitting first baseman with a swing that would blow anyones fast ball out of the park. When he arrived, fire came out of the stadium. That did not happen when Tex got there.
The reason it did not does not lie soley with Tex though. It has to do with the team as a whole. And when injuries and slumps are not calculated in, then failure is just around the corner.

in Norton, Braves Close Out Shea on a High Note on The Launching Pad
I think that the Braves have to make some big deals in the off season if they plan to make an attack in 2009. If they do not, they might as well write off 2009. I would like to see Bobby go out a winner.

in Baseball Marketing-The Loyalty Factor on The Launching Pad
JB, I can remember living in Ft Myers a few years back and the Braves where heading to Miami for a Saturday game. I got premo tickets for just under $50, was front row field level 3rd base side and could talk to the on deck hitters. It was so hot that day and the service sucked. I placed an order with one of the "servers" in the 2nd inning and got my order in the 6th inning.

Willy could do 1B but was more of a third baseman/middle infielder.
