in 5 Trademarks of an Abusive Man on Carrie and Danielle
The "Two Faces" thing is a big one. If a man lies to make himself look good, don't shrug it off. Keep your ears pricked up. If he does it again... and again... Then he has a problem.

in What’s The Secret That Doesn’t Need To Be A Secret Anymore? on Carrie and Danielle
Humans are solar-powered.
We require sunlight, more than we realize. People who want to improve their health should take into account that an indoor gym isn't offering them the same things as being outdoors: We've been spending considerable time outdoors for thousands of years! The sudden evolution of desk-jobs and indoor everything isn't made for us. The sun effects us more than we think.

in Moving Away: How Distance Changed My Friendship on Carrie and Danielle
I'm currently experiencing a period of growth and change that, as a result, has left many of my friendships in the dust. We no longer have our insecurities in common.
Its said that two of the most important questions in life are "Where am I going?" and "Who's coming with me?" I'd say that fear of this kind of loneliness is one reason we resist change. We shouldn't. We'll meet people better-suited to our lives along the way.

in What Item of Clothing Makes You Feel Your Sexiest? on Carrie and Danielle
Ahahaha! Oh, ladies, you're all SO sexy! I'm very happy to read this.
I can't decide, I'll have to get back to you on this. I have so many ideas that I think that I'm missing the most obvious answer.

in What’s The Most Beautiful Part Of Winter For You? on Carrie and Danielle
I like the imagination of it, and what it inspires. The crisp air is clear, spacious and dignified, somehow. You can stand tall in your jackets, and you're not sweaty or sticky. I feel better that way.

in This Year, Choose to Honor Your Style Statement on Carrie and Danielle
I know what that's like - the world makes it sound impossible, doesn't it? I have a fear of pursuing creative work, "knowing" there's no money to be made to support myself.

in If You Could Only Take One Book With You, Wherever You Went, What Would it Be? on Carrie and Danielle
I'm not sure. Maybe a picture book, but if I had to pick one for self-education, it'd be a Caroline Myss book, like "Why people don't heal, and how they can".

in Letting Go of Your Child’s Innocence on Carrie and Danielle
Its something that has to be gone through, and something that has to be started, or else children won't have their own ideas about tribal matters. Kids aren't born with self-respect, or with knowledge about the world, and at first, their reactions to such knowledge will be immature and childish. They are children. They have yet to learn these things, and this is the start of their learning, and interaction with the world. If its of any comfort to any parents, this phase is very valuable: Your child is being exposed to tribal beliefs, and this is the first step to finding their own individual sense of what's right.

in An Easier Way To Lose Weight: Love Yourself Thin on Carrie and Danielle
Let's do it, Colleen! We should invade a populated Department Store, and ban the trash-talk.
I have to say that making a commitment to health seems like one of the most ultimate actions of self-love to me. Without love for yourself, you can't make such commitments without ending up... disappointed and unhappy. How can you possibly commit to your health first and foremost without love for yourself? Self-respect and honor would create far better journeys into health and better clothes, in my eyes. Any other intention is doomed to have something other than yourself in charge.

Conscious. In my decisions, actions and relationships, I want to observe my intentions, and find the most honorable and conscious way in which to conduct myself. I need to be honest, and I can't cave into my fears.

in How Will You Stretch Your Mind This Year? on Carrie and Danielle
I'm pursuing a career in Creative Writing. My ultimate goal is to become an author, hopefully writing for Children and Young Adults. I've always been someone people expected to become a Doctor/Professor of some description, so this is a big step for me. I'm heading back into study after a period of debilitating illness, so this year is going to involve a lot of change. I'm changing my mind about what classifies as a worthwhile career, stretching myself in areas I actually find challenging and even difficult, and defying expectation, which is a huge deal for me. I've always met people's expectations of me. It no longer works.
Last of all, I'm going to connect more with my spirituality, at the risk of ridicule and many other "scary" things. I'm hoping to live my life and conduct myself differently in my relationships, especially the one I have with myself.

in Waiting for the Ring: Romantic or Anti-Feminist? on Carrie and Danielle
I wouldn't say no to a pendant! I think that's a bit presumptuous, assuming that they're at the stage where they wish to get married. I'm one for thinking it over before going into things: I'd probably wait a very, very long time and then some before I considered marrying someone. (Typical Capricorn, I know.) A lot would have to happen before I knew I wanted to spend my life with someone.
As for being proposed to.... I'm not actually involved, but I think if I were in a serious relationship and was considering marriage, a lot of discussion would occur beforehand. I would love the idea of making the engagement/announcement a romantic one, but I probably wouldn't want a man to go out and buy a ring prematurely, without a lot of serious discussion and what not.

in What Does Your Little Voice Say? on Carrie and Danielle
The truly evil voice says that "All is empty. Your words are empty. Your thoughts, they're empty. You're just trying to act all real and profound. You just want their attention and awe. You're not really like that, and you know it, you ingenuine b*****. You should be doing better, trying harder, and you're just making these efforts to avoid doing any real work. They're all going to abandon you for something better."
She's amazingly mean, and I can't believe that I put up with her, even as a nine-year-old kid!

in How Would You Like to be Cared For? on Carrie and Danielle
Love notes, beautiful, thoughtful little things, books, and touching. Lots of nourishing conversation and tea, people smiling when they see me. Most of all, I want loyalty and people I enjoy, who listen! Treasures, kindness, affection, thoughtfulness, and smiling.

in This Year, Choose to Honor Your Style Statement on Carrie and Danielle
Ohhh my. Honoring my Style Statement sure sounds like an adventure. I'm also part Creative, so I think I've got some work to do in that department. This is a tough, anxiety-ridden thing for me, as I've relied so much on my first word, that my second is something I have to reach out and break out to do. What growth! It sounds good.
I find even painting freaks me out: Its my Elegant side. I become so fixed on details that its hard to get the basics in shape, or to have freedom of expression without criticizing every little thing. It seems that I'm suffering from some serious inner conflict, here. Ah well. I've much to sort through, and getting out of my shell will do it. I'll work on my list and get back to you, Suzyn.
Love to my Creative sister. Its been nice having you around in this community.

Yeah - being creative can be scary -- for me it's a money thing. I need to challenge my assumption that I can't make enough money being creative.
Thanks for the love--right back atcha.

in Learning To Rock What You’ve Got! on Carrie and Danielle
Thanks for this. It seems that women need to hear this, over and over again. It all comes from, it seems (for me at least), misconceptions about worth, success... and of course, fear. Some women invest so much stock in how little they weigh, that they believe that, if they can just be skinny/tanned/immaculate enough, that everything else will fall into place: That their insecurities will magically disappear. That Prince Charming will fall for them, or that they'll find motivation elsewhere in their lives. Wrong. The insecurity doesn't end there. You will find more to scrutinize and "what if" about. Best to work what you've got, and grow!
Very positive.

Change is scary, but its well worth it: Your family and life is developing, so it seems that its time to choose an environment that's better suited to both. You're seeing the signs: I think its wise to act upon them. I'm sure you'll become very happy and settled once you've updated your lifestyle to suit your needs!
