Yep, I do fully agree with Vitor. Many times, when people say how bad is the phone customer service of any company I use to say that 'according to their wage... well... enough to say if they pick up the phone'... while they stare at me... Anyway, have you realized how many rants by second raise an spanish... bad customer service... and for instance, bad service in bars and/or restaurants... Or a topic raised in the blog of Manuel Camblor (La Otra Botella). When a bottle of wine is tainted with TCA, what's the behaviour of a spanish customer and of a USA customer? and the behaviour of the shop or restaurant in both sides of the sea?

I don't think it's an spanish culture, but a strong difference between the concept of 'customer service' that exist in US and the one that exist in mediterranean countries...

In addition to this appeared the usual news mangling. Depending on TV-Channel and/or newspaper you were able to see that markets were normal and full... or empty. That everything was quiet and under control.... or trucks on fire... Grrrr.... the usual mangling without a real news coverage.

maybe a glance on spanish history of last 50 years can help to understand the odd behaviour you mention. Thirty & fourty something people inherited the fear of their parents. Our parents raised and/or born during Civil War. That time they'd a lack of everything, including food (yeeep, my parents as well). Therefore one of their biggest fears remain and appear again in these kind of situations. Despite people who born during baby-boom never lived this kind of lackness, they've inherited this kind of 'fear'... Joining this to the 'stupid-mass-behaviour' is easier to understand the last days market fever...

Bueno, bueno, bueno... no conocía éste sitio pero la carta de presentación ha sido impresionante. Soy un joven emprendedor, pobre como una rata pero con la ilusión intacta y eso que llevo ya 5 años batallando. first of all let me talk about the guiltiness of Gabriella ;) I think that the proper punishment for her guiltiness is... cook the matrimonio tapa ;))





And well, I've seen this tapa with this name in Madrid and provinces around (Segovia, Toledo, I don't remember if Soria & Burgos as well) and also in Sevilla. I wouldn't bet my hand on the name of this tapa in some other provinces, but I've seen in some other places, like Bilbao and Alicante.

have you tasted the 'tapa' called 'matrimonio' (marriage)? If not, it's very easy and quite savory. It's made with one of this boquerones, with that traditional anchovies you mention (salty and oily ;) over a fried potato. The fried potato use to be one of those industrial label, but if you have enought time try to do a thin slice and fry at home. Great tapa IMHO.
