I assume there were all talented people on the production (I never heard from anyone or noticed anyone at any conferences or on any blogs, twitter, etc). Perhaps there was no energy or spark to glue everyone together and provide direction. It felt like it was trying to emulate MTV, but without any creativity.

Reading the descriptions, that's one thing that occurred to me too,
Drew -- with an interview that's an hour long, to only go to the
audience for questions with about 10 minutes left just seems wrong.

The attendees pay a lot of money to attend SXSWi. Lets also stress the "i", which means Interactive.

The man is the peer of the attendees. He started a social network. SOCIAL. It's a no brainer that Sarah should have employed more of a social style of interview process with Mark and with the crowd.

I wasn't there, but got a call as soon as it was over. It *was* that bad.

If video isn't in a "format", I just don't see it as compelling, and quite honestly, it's a chore to keep up with. I can scan text, I can't scan over video. If people are making 30 second video posts, why not just use twitter's 140 characters? I love iChat for 1 on 1 video chats in REAL time. I get that. Same with Skype for group video chat. It seems like a chore to me to do video. I love Loic's passion, and I respect the group that has invested, but I don't personally get that "Oh wow, this HAS to get funded" feel.

And i'm all about video.

Now that it's not beta, we'll get to see if a real crowd will come in and use it on an ongoing basis. I wish them nothing but the best of luck!

Who WILL compete in search thougH? If it's not Microsoft or Yahoo or "MicroHoo", then who? Google having a 75, 80% or (gasp) more stronghold on search isn't a good thing for users....or for Google.

Competition, and I'm talking true competition will give users choices, and they may very well stick with Google, but at least Google will have to work for their stronghold, rather than winning by default.

Nobody really knows what goes on behind the scenes at Twitter. We can take their word at face value or not. But hey, at least they're eating their own dogfood, and using Twitter and their blog to keep us updated. That's more than a lot of companies do.

Honestly, being passionate about a service is awesome. I'm pretty passionate about communication, the web, and naturally twitter, which brings both together.

But at the end of the day, they're a company. Google doesn't open its doors to discuss infrastructure with just anyone, and time will tell whether Twitter can get geared up for the masses.

The way I see it, early adopters have obviously been extremely valuable to Twitter, but with early adoption comes growing pains (see iPhone). Many web companies have closed their doors because of lack of passion. Twitter has our passion, and while I'm sure they appreciate people talking about Twitter, they are a company of human beings who say they are working as hard as they can.

They're hiring too, so all of us who know talented developers and programmers should send them their way!

You're onto something here. I've been reading that Twitter is killing the blogosphere and causing content writers/creators to become lazy and to not only write, but think in 140 characters and its context.

Tumblr as a platform, with its simplicity has a chance to build a community of real content creators and more importantly those who like to share. Not everyone creates. But why create if you can't distribute. No other system on the web makes it as simple as Tumblr does.
