Thanks! When my son starts taking steriods because it'll help him make the NHL, I'll look at your picture.

in McCain's baggage (Scripting News) on Scripting News
McCain is the best thing that happened this year. He's about as left as a Republican can get and still win. We just moved the entire political spectrum. Don't bash him.

in Extending RSS and MicroFormats on Life is grand
I think hResume v HR-XML Resume XML best shows why new XML grammars are better than microformats. In order to build a hResume fragment, you have to understand how microformats work. With HR-XML, you just import the XSD into an XML editor and you can build it without ever seeing an angled bracket. Further, look at the depth of detail in HR-XML vs hResume. Many resume constructs can't even be expressed in hResume.

in Scraping Starts from the Very First Post on Plagiarism Today
Are you sure the scraping was for splogging? If you ping weblogs.com with a new blog, then many RSS based search engines will pick it up and begin reporting 1 subscriber immediately. It's not that they are incorrectly reporting 1 subscriber, but rather that they don't report subscribers to FeedBurner, so FeedBurner assumes 1 subscriber.

in Bitacle: A Plan for Action on Plagiarism Today
The part about reporting to Google AdSense is untrue. I've seen countless accounts terminated after I report them and ask others to do the same on the Destroy All Malware blog.

in Yes, it’s always about Dave on Mathew's comments
It\'s not so much that Dave is creating mobile RSS reading. Dave has an amazing way of moving a technology forward. In fact, Dave didn\'t even invent RSS. It was a dead technology that Dave picked up off the floors at Netscape and fathered into the #1 XML format on the Web. Dave doesn\'t build mountains. He moves them.

I think you missed on the character of use. It's definately educational. If you read a Feedpass feed, then you'll see that it's trying to educate the reader on how to subscribe to the RSS feed.
What is This?
http://www.feedpass.com/therssblog#whatisrss
How to Subscribe?
What is an RSS reader?
In fact, the education portions dominate most of the content. It is commerical too. I don't disagree with that, but I'm quite tired of communism.

No, you are not part of the mob. The mob are the people that are attacking Feedpass unfairly. Your comments are sane.
The big difference between FeedBurner and Feedpass is that FeedBurner controls both your landing page and feed, whereas Feedpass controls your landing page but you still control your feed. I'm not a control freak, like some, so I still prefer to let FeedBurner do all the work, but for others, not as liberal as I, then Feedpass is a great option.

in Splogs: Plagiarism En Masse on Plagiarism Today
I suspect that most SplogSense (splogs w/ AdSense) accounts never actually get a cheque. The problem is that they think they will get a cheque, some actually do and that's enough to encourage the low-lifes. Google has to change that perception. Maybe they should report how many SplogSense accounts they've shutdown and we can all blog it to discourage further splogging.

I think you got it backwards when you said "they are growing, but they are just growing because the market is growing". It's Google that is growing the market, not the other way around.

Right now, I'm getting "There is a problem with the database." Please try again later" every time I search Bloglines. I don't see that reflected in the results. Is that being interpreted as a success?

It's good to vent. :-)
BTW, I didn't say "I don't care if some random anonymous person named Randy's son takes steroids to make the NHL" because I do care.
