They tend to be very comfortable and have long battery life.

It seems like most of these business-oriented headsets are making the assumption that customers want something small. But when I'm spending a full day doing meetings and remote collaboration I'd rather have a big, comfy, noise-isolating around-the-ear headset.

I also get that having a headset which works for both laptop and phone can be a plus, but it often comes at the expense of doing one thing *well*.

I'd be interested to see how you compare your pick to e.g. the Corsair VOID PRO, which seems to be the latest iteration of my last favorite headset.

Re: initialize_clone, initialize_dup и initialize_copy в Ruby: Джон Лейтон

This is still such a great breakdown. What you've done here is a re-design, not a refactoring - as you note, it changes the behavior of the code, requiring a change to any HTTP clients.

I'm very careful to separate refactorings from redesign, but it's very often the case that my refactoring is done in order to support a future redesign :-)

Re:

Some had experienced decent uptake. Git was a relative latecomer, and represented a uniquely Linus-y take on the genre.

Ubuntu continued to use Bazaar for many years (maybe they still do? I've lost touch) and a number of projects continue to use Mercurial. I wanna say Google still digs Mercurial, but I'd need to check that.

Certainly Git has become preeminent, though.

Re: 417 Subprocesses Part 3: Spawn | RubyTapas

This is really cool, I'm going to keep an eye on this project!

Re: Top 4 Strangest Abandoned Places to Visit in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

P.S. It was just one guard clause after another, with a `true` at the very for when none of the guard clauses bailed out early. I recall finding that version about equally palatable - it was another way of getting rid of the inconsistency.

Would an episode with this version be helpful?

Re: 333 Processes Everywhere | RubyTapas

I'll definitely be doing more episodes as I work out the implications myself.

Re: 401 Whole Value | RubyTapas

FWIW, the first thing I planned on looking at was the AR composed_of attribute stuff. In any case I can think of saying "let's use the more readable version", I think I'd go straight to the Regexp.last_match.* methods over the English variables.

Re: 402 Self Save Part 1 | RubyTapas

I don't recall having a lot of use for controller tests. I've done some other episodes about this stuff, but I'm generally interested in testing persistence in one of two contexts:

1) Acceptance tests, where the app working sort of implies the persistence worked.
2) Integration tests of models, where I am specifically testing some *interesting* aspect of persistence. Not that the model can save itself (boring), but that e.g. a specialized save or query Does The Right Thing.

If I find myself wanting to test controller logic, I would of course isolate the logic by replacing models with test doubles of some kind, as I always do when isolating logic.

I should go over my history and make sure all this stuff is covered in at least one episode.

Re: 402 Self Save Part 1 | RubyTapas

See my reply to Marcelo

Re: 402 Self Save Part 1 | RubyTapas

Yes, which is where I think it belongs. Rails doesn't have an official PoEAA "Unit of Work" implementation, so it falls to controllers to manage the unit of work.

Re: How Not To Treat People On Your Email List

I don't know who Nick Disabato is, but that's a pretty great rant and with an important message to boot.
