It's all marketing/packaging/sales at that point, as the underlying value (the list) is easily replicable by anyone for free.

Sounds like someone from the fragrance industry could make a killing here :)

Re: Social Recruiting

Once again, "social media" is proven to be a tool that can be used to lever proven, timeless best-practices.

Re: Selfish generousity, or the value of n+1

I'm going to need more info on this place so that I can make it a stop next week!

Check out 99designs.com for logo....you'll have 100 options and revisions in 3 days

Re: Selfish generousity, or the value of n+1

Sorry I just missed them....will find and approve. Guess I need to turn disqus loose and you need to register with disqus (I have to approve all non-registered comments)

Sorry

Re: Tracked.com Gets More Social

Agree that's best long term plan...I guess my thinking was more "until you get there".

In any event my main point is "I'm glad I registered because now I get it and like it!"

Re: Tracked.com Gets More Social

Totally agree....it's just a large value gap between "registered" and "visitor" right now....and I don't think it does you guys justice. What you've created is awesome, but you're not selling it right now.

Just my opinion...keep up the good work!

Re: Tracked.com Gets More Social

Cool and really a great widget.

It'll never be Yahoo Finance and surely that's not what they're trying to be (who needs another data/content dump?).....but a "wannabe Google finance" is what I hear/see. And it's a shame....

If I was in charge of tracked, the first thing I'd do is turn the homepage into a landing page and get people to sign up before they do anything. The experience if you aren't signed up is horrible (and likely causing bad first impressions), and the experience if you are signed up is really very good and pretty cool.

I really think all they need is a page "Tracked lets you track the people and companies that matter to you and your business. Start tracking in 30 seconds....GO".

Re: Conferences (continued)

Little known fact.....that historical statement was followed by " but I know I know more than your dumbass!" On the flip side of the coin though, I can tell you that NYC is an extraordinarily tough sell for people outside of the city to move into.
