An interesting point. I'd have to say that even the illusion of transparency is a step in the right direction. I think the real movement has to be a collective one, wherein we as citizens come to think of politics as an important and ongoing national discussion rather than an irritating obligation. If the nice design and the web 2.0 shine happen to lend themselves to making the pill easier to swallow, I'm behind it.

aja! you are not dumb! I just have some kind of bug in my software. thanks for your patient persistence.

So let's see... I can think of a few possibilities. Are you using OS 10.4? I haven't tested it with that version (I'm on 10.5). But actually from the screenshots it looks like you're on 10.5.

Or... maybe you've got an incompatible version of quicktime (unlikely).

Or an old version of java? I don't know if that even matters, plus that mac OS auto updates that...

what else... I don't even know! I wonder there's a red circle with a line through it at the top of the window- never seen that.

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe you are running another app already that uses the camera? The would mess it up. Is the little light next to your camera turned on?
