Re: messages — yeah I reckon a shoutbox or something on someone's profile wouldn't go amiss. I guess it depends how much you see this as a destination site. You've got all the users' social networks on display, so I can always get in touch through one of them. But if I get in touch through you, I might become more attached the community here?

Last.fm straddles the same kinds of issues — they offer a pretty minimal messaging system but it seems to work quite well.

One more thing — any chance I can remove likes or visits on things I don't wish to share?

Hmm… not sure that's quite right. I love it that you take the time searching for things for me though. You're like my own personal Google.

May I ask why you don't have a tumblr? You wouldn't even have to post anything if you didn't want to, but you could follow me and cate and hawkes and gribbo and goodness knows who else, all from your own tumblr dashboard. Try it, you might like it. x

That's one of those specially poured custom bottles - it's Bowmore 12 yr old, and it came from my 9 yr old nephew. He's a good lad.
