in How Not To Treat Your Fans on Matthew Ebel
So over at coverville.com (http://www.coverville.com/archives/2008/08/soth...) there is a post where the organizer mentions that Cheese reminded him of the contract terms before the event.

----------------------------
10. I've agreed to this, but it should be noted here for anyone else who may have recorded any of Richard Cheese's performance. From his contract:

"In accordance with our agreement, none of the audio or video from our Las Vegas performance may be used for any purpose without our express written advance permission. So, don't use anything from our show in your podcast, website, or in any other context."
----------------------------

And also discussed in the comments:

"In defense of Richard Cheese, he has always been generous enough to let me play music from his studio releases on the show. However, his live performances add an extra layer that would lose something if not seen live."

and

"And don't be too hard on Richard Cheese. He came here, put on a great show, and simply reminded me of part of his contract which I agreed to at the beginning."

Now, he has a right to excuse the actions of Cheese, but the fans have a right not to.

I just can't get over this guys passion and enthusiasm. It's crazy how well he can articulate what is racing through his head in terms everyone can grasp.

Well said Gary. You have certainly hit the nail on the head. In addition, I think the technologies you mention really level the playing field where the little guy can really compete. This has been possible for a while now, but it is becoming so much easier to do so.

in How I Tamed My Inbox on Chris Brogan
Hi Chris, great post. I have been trying to stay at inbox zero ever since the Merlin Mann Google presentation (re) circulated twitter a month or so ago. It's been going well so far (for my personal email atleast!)

I use Google Calendar to process emails that are date sensitive, either reminders or events/meetings. With G Cal, if the date is formatted properly, you can add the event straight from the email.

I also use Remember the Milk for storing to-do's by context. There is a method for keeping RTM in the sidebar for Firefox here so it is always available.

I get way too many emails from work to try this yet. Perhpas if I can stick to this discipline for personal email, I can apply it to work...eventually.

in Share YOUR Social Networking Success Stories on Chris Brogan
Well, if you wrote this post 6 months from now, I would hope to have more news! But I will interpret your post as "How would you define success in your social networking endeavors"

I hope my social networking activities will do two things:

1) To network with people in my local area (as well as people that are not bound by proximity...via Twitter, Facebook, etc). Networking isn't something I have much experience with, but using social media as an ice-breaker can make this so much easier.

2) Create awareness for (*shameless plug*) a Daddy blog that I am working on with a few close friends at DaddyRockstar.com.

Hopefully I remember to post back in a few months to let you know how it went!

I agree 100%. In fact, I just had personal business cards made for social networking events and this post is one of the reasons. The new biz cards will have my personal email info so I don't lose contact with people if times change.

Great thought Chris, now if you could explain this to my wife ;)

Here is a charity that my wife and I contribute to. It is the Boys and Girls Club of Brockton. They do not accept donations through their website (I am working with them to fix that).

Here is the link to the main site:

And a link to the page with the donation info:

I travel all over the metro Boston area so I will certainly keep my eye on (and contribute to) Commuter Feed.

Easy tip:

Setup a canned sms message that starts:

@commuter(space)citycode(space)

Then type your alert when you pull up the canned message

in BlackBerry Rules the Smartphone Roost on Chris Brogan
I agree, the blackberry is everything I need it to be. I have used the iPhone myself and just can't get the typing to work for me. I'm sure with time though I would get used to it. For music, I just use a nano which isn't too much more to lug around.
