in Writing Email That Gets Answered on Chris Brogan
Chris,

As everyone else has pointed out, this was a great article and very useful. I have occasionally had to write longer e-mails for business purposes, mainly to recap a meeting, but generally keep them short. And as someone who used to get hundreds of e-mails a day, many of which I was just cc'd on, relevant subjects are vital.

To answer your other question, as to how improve the state of your in-box, I have two suggestions:
1. Get to the bottom of your in-box daily,
2. and file, file, file.

I love folders and use them often, both for "follow-up" purposes and for record-keeping.

in Is There No Balance Between New & Old Media? on Social Times
I personally think that there will always be people who prefer reading their books as books, so I disagree with the above statement. Will everything eventually be available online, yes; will it be cheaper online, again, yes. But as long as POD keeps getting cheaper and there are consumers for the print platform, print will not be dead.

in Social Networks Sites Are Virtual Playgrounds on Social Times
Bertelsmann has a "My Career" Facebook application that allows you to search for jobs within its companies. I also recently downloaded another Facebook job application that allows me to search my friends backgrounds to see if any of them have ever worked for a company I'm interested in. To me those are both very useful...

So yes, Facebook is primarily used for social purposes, but as with any other tool out there--the computer and the Internet, for instance--its use and usefulness is dependent more on who is using it rather than on the actual merit of the tool or application.

in Social Network Profiles Are the New Email on Social Times
Although I agree that LinkedIn is necessary professionally, I don't think Facebook is at that level. Personally I have both profiles, but I wouldn't necessarily add professional contacts on Facebook, nor do I use it to network.

in Facebook Releases New Simplified Design on AllFacebook
I actually like it. I hate having to scroll down a long profile page, whether my own or someone else's, so I think the new design, with its tabs, will make it a lot easier to navigate.

in Does Blogging Provide Enough Value? on Social Times
Given that most online branding articles and books suggest that you blog to get your next job, and given all the job posts for freelance bloggers I see every day, I don't think it's dead or dying: it's just evolving, like the rest of the media/publishing industry.
