in Not so fanatical about Fanatics on Paul Jacobson
I don't even bother with my fanatics card anymore, I prefer shopping at Estoril and their prices are about 10% cheaper anyway thus nullifying the discount. I also feel that fanatics offers no real value. Where's the recommendations and personal data?

Rad post. I can personally attest to the value of changing your voicemail message. I did that about 6 months ago and it's far better. The emails that people now send instead sit in my inbox as persistant reminders...!

(Comments working again, yaay)
Dude,
I have a 4mb telkom dsl line - it kicks serious ass! I stream live Canadian TV everynight so I can watch hockey games. Thus I def wouldn't say that this leaves Telkom standing still.

in iPod in the car on Paul Jacobson
Hey,
Okay personally I use the ice-link system that is hardwaired into the cars system (mapped to the cd shuttle button). That way I can control everything from my steering wheel, it's about R2000 installed.
The iTrip and similar unpowered FM transmiters suck. They suck bad.
However, while my car's been geetting fixed I needed an alternative and went for Griffin's RoadTrip (R550, WW computers, Cretsa). I'm blown away by how good this unit is, really blown away, so much so I bought a second one for my wife. The trasmission to FM 88.1 is perfect and it charges too.
If you want the sexier option, the icelink rocks, but having said that, I have found no fault with the RoadTrip.
Hope this helps...!

Hey,
Nice buy. My 12" connects with no prob to my adsl router, there is a web config you need to do on the modem. Call Andre at my office tomorrow and he'll talk you through it (011 794 6445).
Suggestion, get yourself airport express too, it rocks...!

in What works best for you and for your business? on Paul Jacobson
I think a balance is important here. When I started Missing Link I did have a full time job, however when I eventually took the plunge, while slightly more established, I still needed to work my arse off the first few years to make ends meet. That challenge was important though, I worked hard because the alternative was not eating, I think that helped a lot.
That's why I disagree with the VC option, where's the risk?

He gets around though, last week it was Seth Godin, the week before; Robert Scoble. Alas though, it seems that Hugh's wild days are over now that he has settled with Tom the Tailor (kids TV show - imminent).
