in Debunking Myths That Say Linux Won’t Reach the Desktop on CodingExperiments.Com
agreed. most hardware companies won't release linux drivers, so new hardware tends to go unsupported under linux for several months before someone manages to knowck together a properly working driver. even intel graphics cards (and intel even releases their own linux drivers) don't have good linux drivers the moment they're released.

in 9 Linux Myths Debunked on The Linuxologist
i think hardware support under linux is still touch and go, especially with some of the more obscure hardware. support for webcams have gotten tons better, but they can still be a pain in the ass sometimes.

in Which Linux Distributions Are Dying? on CodingExperiments.Com
kinda sad that debian is falling out of favor, even though ubuntu and a lot of other distros are based on it. i've stopped liking ubuntu because it feels too bloaty, but i guess a lot of people like it for its simplicity

Rishabh Mishra (possible248) Ubuntu has many problems, but it's biggest achievements are its community and its ease-of-use. It's those things that are making it popular.

As for Debian, I don't think that it's future is completely over. I think it has a good place in the Linux enthusiast's hard drive.

in Handmade HP Mini-Note case on Liliputing
nice bag. but isn't the mininote supposed to be really sturdy and scratch resistant, so it wouldn't be very liable to get scuffed up?

Brad Linder Sturdy? Yeah. Scratch resistant? I wouldn't want to push my luck. Since it slips and slides around in a full sized laptop case or backpack, I'd rather not push my luck. it's like carrying a cellphone in your pocket. You certainly *could* just slip it into your pocket without any sort of protection. But it's going to show less wear and tear over time if you put it in a slipcase first.

in OhGizmo! » Archive » My Asus EEE PC - Goodbye Xandros, Hello XP on OhGizmo!
"is it just me or does the eee show what a rip off the iphone is?"

probably a bad comparison. the iphone is a phone, whereas this is a really small and portable laptop.

i'm surprised to hear that photoshop even runs on this tiny little thing. thats quite impressive

in gOS - Tiny Computers Take Over Market on EduTechie
not too bad looking. i wonder how it compares to the asus eee pc.

i ran gOS for a little bit on my extra partition, but it seemed like a pretty rough and unfinished distro, although the concept is still pretty good.

personally, i would dump gOS the first chance i got, and put debian or arch on it.
