I was really torn on this issue, but after seeing the speech and reading all the comments here, sadly I have to agree with Rhonda, Truth, Ms Martin and Nquest.


It is most definitely pandering and I wrote a comment on JJP some weeks back when CPL wrote that post that went along the lines of "Black people need to do better"



Running off a laundry list of negative things that I would think many on here cannot attribute to themselves.



Once again my point is, why is it okay to constantly label and judge "The Black community" by the least of us instead of uplifting and supporting the best of us?



I don't want to vote for someone for the color of their skin but by the content of their character. However Obama has given me hope that he would at least attempt to be a fair Ambassador and leader for ALL Americans not just the majority or for that matter the minority.



However the truth is simple, he has a job to do and it will never get done if he does not open the eyes of America to the fact that we are in this shit TOGETHER.



It's all fine and good not to call white people the boogeyman but why is it all too convenient to make Black America as a whole, their own boogeyman.



I don't know if this is coming across as intended but it's a sore subject. I can see both sides, but unfortunately my opinion falls on the side that is disappointed, in the end with Obama's choice in making this a national speech for his own electability.

In my humble opinion, I think a live chat room would be great. However, I would prefer JJP did not post gossip-news stuff. I mean we have a billion blogs out there covering that and it's a bit disconcerting and distracting to read here.

I talked to a friend, from London, a couple of weeks ago . He is of Indian descent and I asked him if he could ever see a person of color becoming Prime Minister of England.



He said, without hesitation, no. He does not ever see that happening. Frankly (maybe naively) I was shocked. I suppose I thought England was a bit more progressive in thought than us. Oh how I was wrong. I could hear it in his voice and it makes me even more thankful to be an American.



There's a long way to go but at least the ceiling is glass and not Iron.

I am not going to watch this hot mess ... I'm so done with HRC supporters, like this.I say, who cares if they vote for McCain. Personally I'd rather Obama lost than cow tow to these bigots. After Obama's Presidency I'm done with the Democrats and Republican's. Hopefully there are some strong Independent candidates in the subsequent years to follow.


I say, vote for who you believe in. If this "lady" doesn't believe in Obama, so be it ... I do not care.

I am so fucken glad I did not watch a minute of today's coverage I might have went postal when I went out to do my errands today.



I will tell you this ... Civil War or not, Hillary seems to care little about helping others and all about helping herself to the Presidency.



I'm beginning to think a HRC Presidency would be Bush lite. Which would only be a small step up from McCain (who is simply a smarter, Braver, angrier Bush).



Funny ... those comments about Hillary wanting to run in 2012 by destroying Obama, doesn't seem too far off the mark now ... does it?

I'm not surprised. I think the whole team of J & J should be allowed to blog at the convention.
