t.c. you are so right. Whites will be a minority in America by what 2050? Latinos/Hispanics will be the largest group.

I worry about HRC supporters like this one:

Thanks Billary and Harold for helping divide the party.

So those pro Hillary women are going to throw their support to McCain the man who called his wife the "C" word in pubic because Barack is sexist?

Where did this "Barack is sexist thing" come from? What has he done or said?

Is there sexism in this country? Yes. However, contrary to Mrs. Ferraro et al. racism hasn't just "poof" disappeared. Barack is not lucky. He ran/is running a stronger campaign.

Hillary is losing not because of sexism. She is losing because she ran a terrible campaign. Her team thought they had it in the bag and had no strategy past March. End of story. She blew through millions of dollars, listened to terrible advice from Mark Penn and did not reign in her husband. Some how the candidate that has been speaking in code words and running the most cynical campaign all year is the victim now?

Whatever.

in Puerto Rico: "The Mulatto Primary" on Jack and Jill Politics
Kenya I agree being African, part African is a beautiful thing. It's sad that thanks to our pop culture and the images we choose to promote all over the world, the number of women in Africa using skin lightening creams is skyrocketing. So are skin cancer rates which were non-existent only a few years ago.

Regarding my previous post, all I am saying is my parents and myself are very dark. My cousins who have a french mom are not. We have the same last name and nobody cares.

I'm going by what I have personally witnessed in my family. Other family members have married Dutch people. Some of their kids married folks who are as dark as me or white folks and everything in between.

Not saying it's paradise. Just saying each island has it's own issues. The Jamaicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans and Trinidadians I know are not color conscious. Their families seem to be more concerned with class. If you look like Halle but "don't have a pot to piss in" you are not going to trump the brown girl with a pot. I think in the States you would. Or maybe I'm just cynical after living in L.A.

I just moved to Rome from Los Angeles where I lived for 10 years. I feel it was the most color struck place I have ever lived or visited in my life. I cannot even get into some of the crazy comments I rec'd from brothers about my natural hair...in the 21st century!

It wasn't until I went to college that I faced the whole the lighter you, are the more play you will get thing. This was in the late 80s. Very eye opening.

On the other hand my brother-in-law is jewish and haitian. His father is light and so are many people in that family. Yes in Haiti it does seem like most of the people with money are light, just like in DC. His family did not have an issue with him marrying my sister who is chocolate like me.

I did say on the larger islands it seems to be a bigger issue. Haiti is a much larger island than St. Martin and Anguilla where the majority of my people are from. The rest are in Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, and Guadeloupe.

I forgot to say earlier I agree 100% race is not an obstacle it's racism. So true.

My family is from the caribbean. Does the media not understand that just because Mexicans and Puerto Ricans speak spanish doesn't mean the two groups will vote the same way?

I can only speak for my family and friends but no one the islands that they are from care about this whole bi-racial or light skinned/dark skin thing. I have many relatives who are mixed and they are treated not better or worse. they are not special because they are light or have "good hair". It's more important that your family is not jacked up than what your skin tone is. I do know on some of the much bigger islands that might not be the case but let's not put our American obsessions on Puerto Rico. The island's history is very diverse and most of the Puerto Ricans I know define themselves and black and latino.

in NO "DE FACTO" THIRD TERM FOR THE CLINTONS on Jack and Jill Politics
The DNC will not pressure her because they waited too long. Now even if she "gracefully" leaves, her supporters will scream sexism. She has poisoned the well so deeply nobody can drink from it now.

I don't know how any one can support her with these statements. We are not blowing things out of proportion. She is not misspeaking. This is how she feels and such a person should not be in the U.S. Senate and def. not president.

in Bob Kerrey on Barack Obama — A Modest Translation on Jack and Jill Politics
Another poster brought up a good point.

Given all the love our people have for the "first black President", why it that Bush appointed more blacks to senior position in his administration?

The strategy Billary is using againt Obama is backfiring. People I know who were on the fence are now going to vote against her. Please.

wow! I can't believe he said these things. Is this a generation gap? My siblings and I are in our early 40s to early 30s. None of us have a problem with Barack's Civil rights record. He was too young to march with Martin.

I thought I was the only who got heated over the Bill Clinton is America's first black President comments.

I don't think the comment is cute, funny or true. Bill Clinton has no idea what is like to be a 60 year old black man in America.
