I'm so excited about this! I have read the first two books in the series and I have the third, but have not read it. My fifth graders love this book too. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Although the main characters are kids, it is a great story. If you want to read it, let me know, I have 6 copies at school.

As a 5th grade teacher, this is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. I teach this every year and every time I do I learn something more. I just finished teaching on the American Revolution last week and after watching the show I wish I could show this in school.
I especially appreciated the fact that they did not glorify all of the colonists as patriots as tends to happen frequently. Also that they showed that the Revolution was not something that came easily to the colonists. It was extremely dangerous for these men and women to do what they did and I think it is great that we can learn about and appreciate what they did. Amazing so far, and I can't wait to watch the rest.

I'm going to pretend that the "Dancing with the Stars" comment wasn't directed at me. Seriously, I'd rather watch wanna be celebrities make fools of themselves, or not, than a bunch of guys trying to escape and never quite managing to. :)

In San Francisco you need to see Lombard St. (that's the crooked one) Ghiradelli square is down the street from Lombard St. and that's kind of fun for an hour or so. Harris' restaurant is a great place for a romantic anniversary dinner. It's expensive, but worth it. That's where Scott and I went for my 30th. If we think of anything else, we'll let you know.

Having things be "my way", trying to convince other people to see things a certain way. Basically today I realized that I can't change the way people think and that I don't want to waste time and energy fighing and arguing. And I was able to walk away from a situation and not be bitter and angry for hours after. It was a big step for me today.
Anyway...I teach for the kids, not for me or anybody else. Did I ramble too much???

Talk about weird...I too had a moment like that today. It was the first day back at school and everything that seemed so important at one point in my life now seemed silly or not even worth my time. Maybe God is touching us all for a reason...
