I stand corrected. My 12 year old sister claimed to me this was new....obviously she was wrong. Noted. System is super stable and also Safari memory usage seems dramatically better. I'm finding its not gobbling a gig of ram anymore with countless tabs open.

Andrew, great interview as usual and since someone else on HN asked for a transcript, I just saw a recommendation on Fred Wilson's blog re: the PhoneTag/Simulscribe API: http://www.simulscribe.com/ that he seems to like for transcription, you should try it out and see if it fares better than your MTurk experiment.

Pretty good interview (as usual!) -- Eric Ries' name is mispelled above, though.

I usually read the tech excerpts before playing the videos so they're pretty helpful. I think Matt makes a really good point about knowing how well your competition is doing to size the market and understand how to get to the right price point.

The quality goes off a lot in the beginning which I'm assuming is a Skype issue?

Are you using minefield or geode? Minefield doesn't ship with the Skyhook Geolocation provider that Geode uses, so you have to manually update your location (it doesn't use the nearby wifi hotspots to figure out where you are)

Geode should work, but it isn't part of FF3.1b1/2

yeah. we've been following up with yahoo on this, see this thread:

Basically, when someone changes their address, we geocode it and send it to fireeagle, when we ask fireeagle back for the same location, we use the 'name' of that location (in your case, 9th Ave, NY, NY) now when we geocode 9th Ave, NY, NY it becomes 32nd/9th.

It would be nice if they gave us back the original address you used to update but they're still thinking about that.

Centralized location brokerage has a little while to go, I think :-)

the coordinates are for 52/9th.

so, enter coords at 52/9 in radar -> fireEagle updates -> refresh radar ->. now radar is at 35/9. something lost at fireEagle when it interprets the coords as "9th Ave" and sends them back?

yep, radar is 2 way to FireEagle... those coords are for 9th/35th right? or is it 52nd?

the weird piece is when you enter those coordinates in radar, then fireEagle updates. it becomes "9th ave" and then the mapping in radar is then at 9th and 35th

weird, i can enter those coordinates in FE and it works. Radar obviously is trying to display your location and it doesn't have a name for those coordinates so it just displays nothing at all, just pushed a fix to display your coordinates if we don't have a city/state. not sure why FE is breaking...
