in A quick tour of Sony’s virtual world - Home on The Metaverse Journal
Very interesting concept. If Sony can integrate a lot of their services etc into this, it could become really useful. Almost want to Get a PS3 just so I can go jump around in there.

in Minding My Own Business on The Metaverse Journal
Seshat, That' a great story. My business (Orion Keynes Design) started in exactly the same way and has been breaking even plus maybe a couple of cups of coffee for about a year and a 1/2 now. Recent RL economic conditions however have put a small dent in sales, but like you, if you keep at and are smart about where things are, not too greedy, it all works. Last month was the first month since breaking even that I actually had to put my hand in my RL pocket to subsidise tier.

I only have one location, it started as a rented plot and grew out of proffits initially to the 1/4 mainland SIM I have today. I'm now going to look at probably some smaller satellite specialised locations to rent perhaps, based on your advise. This looks to be a great idea for relevant expansion perhaps.

Kudos to the work you put in to run yours and thanks for sharing.

in The SLOz Traffic Index is on its way on The Metaverse Journal
Guys, I think it's a great idea. I can see some momentum, even with my Studio in SL. The addition of SLoz, my free aussie flag etc, I get aussies visiting me all the time and we are pretty active in the Australians group.

This idea of collecting info on all the Aussie spots in SL is great. We are pretty much roaming the SL planet by ourselves given the timezone, so some welcome places to visit and watch grow would be great. Count me in. I don't particularly care for numbers, and I'd really like to see more resident areas given the profile that they deserve in amongst all the hype on RL companies. I put a call out to any Aussie SL residents that are doing something in world and let the SLoz guys know about it so we can all come visit and support you.

in SLOz HQ - The Build Part 1 on The Metaverse Journal
Hey Lowell, that's great. As a housewarming gift, how about you float on past my studio and put togeather a shopping list of furniture and fittings on a note card and send it to me. You can have whatever you want, in whatever quantities, free, gratis, my gift to you. And for all you other aussies out there, I just put up my Australian flag pole for you all to take a copy of and pepper your neighbourhoods with...

in Building bridges over Linden Land? on The Metaverse Journal
Given that the longest object you can link is a 40m straight section, the middle would be at the 20m mark and I think a linden road may be more than 20m wide (including the actual land). So the bridge would never actualy meet in the middle. If anyone (like me) has had something come across a border then you know that as long as the centre of the object is on your land, then the remainder of the object can hang over to another person's land. Quite anoying really. But you only really have about 15m penetration.

What I find annoying about linden roads, is that you can't rez a vehicle there as it is no build. I think they should be converted to a reasonable - auto return, but there may be other reasons why this is as it is.

I dunno.

in Aussie landmarks appearing as Second Life locations on The Metaverse Journal
Actually there are a bunch of Aussie names in SL. There are some regions and a whole host of last names that come from towns between Sydney and Wollongong. So, if you see anyone with the last names...Fairy Meadow, Bellambi, Coniston, Thouroul etc - these are all towns south of the National Park in Sydney. I live in Sydney today, but was born in Wollongong...

in Calling all Aussie SL’ers on The Metaverse Journal
Hey, Great Idea, I'll kick it off. Orion Keynes Design. My Studio is in Hamlin (Modern low to medium Prim Furniture and Prefabs). I only found this blog today w00t. If there is going to be an aussie group then all the Aussie business / home owners should fly Aussie flags. As soon as I find an Aussie Flag, I'll fly it :-)

BTW - RL - Live in Sydney - IM me in world for a chat...
