I use gmail because it is the BEST, not because it's free. I think you can hook up a domain name to gmail. I really don't care if some people think my gmail account is unprofessional; most people couldn't care less. It's like saying a realtor won't be taken seriously unless he/she is driving a Caddy or Beemer. Not so.

in The Practical Guide To Managing Social Media Overload | Social Media Explorer on Social Media Explorer
I do not read many "auto tweets" and I had no idea that the "Thanks for the follow" tweet messages were auto fed - I felt guilty for not thanking my followers directly. LOL.

I have my blog posts auto-fed to Twitter but that's it....and I'm thinking about eliminating that because I don't think anyone clicks to my blog from twitter anyway; they probably ignore them...but then again, someone may be interested by the title....

Any other time that I post a tweet or post on facebook (my preference) it is personal and manually done....which was the entire point of these social media programs, or so I thought.

flowerchild, it's beyond the "pros" of the house and the lifestyle to be had in the community.

Not saying we need to be LIKE Jimmy in the LIFESTYLE he promotes - but like Jimmy by promoting A lifestyle.

I really detest all the Facebook apps and rarely sign up for them. I would love Facebook much more if it didn't have all that junk....

Err, forgive that half coherent comment - sheesh. I'm only on coffee #2, so I should wait until I'm halfway done with cup #3 before commenting..

Can I say I agree with Trace? Unless they're saying they wrote the content or removing your original links then I have no problem. So what if they want to earn a few bucks on Adsense?

I have had one of my blogs get a lot of readers - funny that, because it was a blog about one of the least popular communities in the area, because it's not so "pretty" and doesn't have a slew of amenities. however, someone recently contacted me about the community.

This blog article was "pinged?" (I guess?) by someone who posted it on their site...full credit and links to me... I have no doubt that a lot of my traffic (Okay, so it's only 10 visitors but that's a lot to ME..LOL).

I have to wonder, did the person who contacted me about the community stumble upon my blog myself, or upon this splogger and then to my blog?

I don't know.

I suppose we can worry about these sploggers "competing with us" for our own content, but as long as the splogger isn't another real estate agent with their contact info all over the place, I don't worry about it too much.

Rambly, arent I?

in Turning Away “Business”… on The Phoenix Real Estate Guy
Excellent blog. I turned down one listing two weeks ago - not only did the seller want $40,000 more than the home was worth, but she wanted me to drop my commission on top of it. Sorry - under certain circumstances I will negotiate some of my commission but not right off the bat. Yesterday I was interviewing with a seller and gave him the straight story: His appraisal of $220,000 from almost 2 years ago would not stand up to today's market atmosphere. His home would probably sell somewhere between $170,000 and $185,000. He was not too happy but he did appreciate my being honest with him. He said he'd think about it. He may list with someone else who "buys" his listing but I've given him the comps first...lol. Another agent may say I don't know what I'm talking about but we'll see....

in Phoenix MLS Search - A New Map-based Solution on The Phoenix Real Estate Guy
This is really neat - but hopefully it's not dependent upon agents to put the property in the right location...I know on our MLS you have to manually locate the property and unfortunately, a lot of agents don't realize that and just leave it at the default setting, which is the postal center for the listing.

Or maybe I'm naive...maybe they do that on purpose. Anyway, it would be nice for buyers to be able to save searches. Our current system does not allow that; if they want to do that they have to go to Realtor.com...and then they may be saving (and sending) stuff from different boards of realtors, to make things interesting.

in Real Estate Porn: Ad Edition on Sellsius
Maybe it will work on the 20 something guys - but do they buy houses? I find the kitchen, bath, and counter photos annoying - and would find them just as annoying even with a half nude Johnny Depp standing there by the fridge...or in the shower. If I'm searching for real estate, I want to see what I actually GET. But maybe that's a sign that I'm getting old, and turning into my parents...
