I'd say the longest it's been in there is a couple of weeks. Two? We sprinkle it on practically everything - spaghetti, salad, omelets, and on and on. :)

Re: Homemade Ice Cream

Stacy - It does work well. I've never had a problem with it, and I've had it almost ten years. I do wish I had a bigger one because I have to make multiple batches if company is coming. I do think we'll find lots of combination now that we know we like slightly cooked spinach. If your spinach doesn't thrive now, you can always try again in August. The original recipe called for wheat gluten in addition to the flour, but we omitted it. I'm not sure how the addition of gluten changes the bread, but thought I should probably mention it.

Anissa - You should check your local FreeCycle group. They're online at FreeCycle.org. Bread machines were in style about ten years ago, and everybody bought them. Many are sitting unused in closets, thrift stores, and in garage sales because people didn't really use them once they'd gotten them. We use our free one all the time, at least 3 times a week.

Re: Homemade Veggie Ranch Pizza

Katie - We left our onions in big rings because we all like them, but if you cut them small enough, they'd cook nicely and be totally invisible under the cheese in the finished pizza! :)

Re: Who Are You?

Katie - That is very interesting! I guess it takes a fresh pair of eyes to figure it out. I had no idea that you were so into birds! When I was little, my Grandma and sister and I spent many hours poring over her bird book. It was wonderful.

I also can't imagine him hanging upside down in a tree. He didn't look very limber.

Then, I was thinking that maybe it's not a HE at all. Maybe it's a SHE and she's about to lay her eggs?

The spot in my yard where it was digging around has only an inch or two of soil on top of huge rocks. You're amazing! :) I already knew that, of course, but even moreso now.

I didn't think it was a finch because this bird was big. It was easily as big as or bigger than the mourning doves we get some times.

And I thought its beak had that wood pecker look.

Yes! YES! YES! You hit it right on the head for me. It's so hard for me to accept that I have this injury when there are no obvious signs of it. I stand upright, and I can sit for a few minutes at a time. But yet, I'm really hurting. It's frustrating.

Thank you for your comment and for your prayers. We cut the straps, removed the cover, and then put the seat in a plain brown box with other trash and sealed it up with packing tape. We're going to set the box out just before the trash truck goes in the morning so there's no time for anyone to rummage. I feel confident that no one find it and snatch it. Something clicked for her, though, and she's become a lot more willing to approach some animals. She's pet a donkey, some cows, alpacas, a Clydesdale horse, and some small dogs. My baby is 19 months old, and we need to set a lot of the same rules already.

I would like to add that I never breastfed her, and she still tries to expose my boobs to the public. She doesn't do that to her dad, but does it to me all the time. So embarrassing!

Re: Family Travel Adventures by Disney - A Romantic Interlude

Someone once told me that the best thing you can do for your children is to nurture your marriage to their father. Now that I am a momma, I know that it's true, but it's so difficult to carve out the time when so many other things seem more pressing. Good for you for finding the time. It sounds like it was wonderful!

Re: MWW and Nikon: BlogHer Lessons Learned

Bravo. I attended the Nikon Night Out party, and I thought it was a smashing success. It was a classy event held in a gorgeous location. I thought the Nikon party was the best one of the weekend, partly because it was a small, sophisticated gathering that was more like a dinner party with friends than a frat party (not that there's anything wrong with either one, just drawing a comparison). That you reached out to clear the air with the women involved shows why.

Re: How You Can Help End the Problem of Blogs With Great Content and No Readers

I'm in. Oh, well. There's always next year, right?

Anyway, I just want to say that you were directly behind me for Paula Deen!
