The D60 is a DSLR, which means you can use any lens with a Nikon mount. However, the D60 will only autofocus with AF-S lenses (which are what most people use today).

As for lenses, the D60 kits are a good way to go. For example, the 18-55mm is an excellent kit lens. However, if you are looking for more zooming range you may want to get the more expensive Nikon 18-200mm, which is highly acclaimed. Also, you may consider getting a Nikon 55-200mm or 70-300mm in addition to the 18-55mm.

Best,
Nick

Re: Nikon’s D60 is the Perfect Intro to DSLRs

The D60 is not the best camera if you will be using old, manual film lenses. It only auto-focuses with AF-S lenses and will not meter with manual lenses. If you are looking for full Nikon lens compatibility, and you are willing to spend $1K more, the D300 is the way to go.

Re: Better Flash Photography with the Nikon SB-400

The Olympus FL-36
http://www.jr.com/olympus/pe/OLM_FL36/

Re: Nikon Introduces D700 Full-Frame DSLR

Kari, I am assuming money isn't a huge issue for you, so here are my lens recommendations:

For ultra-wide angle, you can't go wrong with the excellent Nikon 14-24mm:
http://www.jr.com/nikon-1424mmf-2-8g-ed-lens/pe...

And for telephoto, the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR has been flying off store shelves since for the past couple years:
http://www.jr.com/nikon/pe/NKN_70_hy_200_SL_2_d...

Best,
Nick

Re: Nikon’s D60 is the Perfect Intro to DSLRs

Yeah, the D60 accepts the same lenses as the D40.
