What I always fear (after I moved to Estonia from Holland), is that Estonia will give in to ethnic groups time and time again, like the dutch government does.
Now Holland is THE example of a multicultural society going over the cliff soon, simply because they give in to deals that have been already made. Also because they are being terrified to be called racist.
It is ridiculous to be afraid of that. It kills all possibility of open communication.

Besides that the Estonian ss-regiments got special dispensation in the neurenberg trials (being front line soldiers), let us talk about the Dutch and Flemish SS-units.
Religious people were being ordered by priests and revs from the council to fight against the “red danger”. And if you bear in mind, that the pope blessed the german troops just before they invaded Poland in 1939, you might find some sense in people wanting to fight against the red army.

Now let us head back o Estonia: People there already had some ideas what the russians were planning with Estonia (Russians had been there, done it and got the t-shirt so to speak).

Just before the withdrawal from the german army out of estonia, Estonian SS-contingents raided as much supplies as they could from their former “allies”, or should I say: my enemies enemy is my friend?

I may elaborate on these in a future post, but my quick answers to some of the follow-up questions posted here would be:

1) save keys anywhere you need to in order to make the motion right, but keeping nice curves should be possible as well...

2) I've seen someone animate a dog using the "hide the legs" method, but you're right, that it does seem complicated... I think you'd be fine as long as you did some serious planning, and knew where those legs were going to eventually end up. Try it out for 50 frames or something, and if you hate it, then just forget it. :)

3) as for knowing how high/low to translate the body without seeing the legs - yes, this is something you'll have to kind of "guess" at and probably edit a bit once you show the legs. This is one of the areas I was referring to when I said you'd probably have to edit it a little bit, but you should be pretty close and it shouldn't affect your timing, most likely...

Hi Chetan!

Yup, you definitely have to be careful with the line of action during the breakdowns and inbetweens, and can't let the computer do too much for you!

Sometimes I'll fix the line of action with a key, and sometimes in the graph editor. It doesn't matter much which you use - I'd say to use whichever is most comfortable for you -- the important thing is that the motion looks exactly the way you want it to look! Don't let the terrible computer inbetweening dictate the end-result of your animation! :)

You have studied the Bible . . .if I ever have opportunity to share with somebody what Christianity is, I always turn to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; not a bad goal for how to live if you ask me. But then, who am I to judge, but a humble servant of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Wherever your journey takes you, carry with you this . . .you are loved, and there is always room for another hypocrite to come join our pews - you will be welcomed with open arms.

I am a white man in a serious relationship with a beautiful dark skinned lady. We are planning to get married in a couple of months.

The comment that a alkebuloniank1ng made about black ladies being the key role in a game. Come on man, quit being so paranoid. Not all white people are out to get you. A person loves who they love regardless of race, culture, or skin color. I could see being paranoid if we lived in the south 30 - 40 years ago, when the country was run by inbred racists, but come on man ... This is the problem with the world today too many people being all paranoid and thinking everyone is out to get them.

Me for an example, I am a Jewish man by birth, but am a Christian and I felt the sting or racism and discrimination, but I dont care or think about or pay attention to what other people think or say, I am in love with a wonderful lady and I am happy and so is she and that is all that matters is true love and happiness.

To give an update... I married my beautiful dark skinned lady and I am the happiest man in the world. We are currently living in Germany where I am stationed and are very happy. The only problem we have run into are the Germans... They still are as they were before WWII, but try to hide it, but that would be a whole other topic.

Playing 'catching' at the multi-storey carpark.

Buying sweeteened coloured drinks from the uncle outside our school and getting stomache.

Going to school through unconventional ways like under the drain, or down from a 'hill' slope.

I read an interesting comment from The Gubenator's staff today, the governor, "feels that we've come to a point where we're starting down a dangerous path and it leads to anarchy at some point"

Someone missed English class the day they talked about redundancy and run-on sentences. At least it wasn't a comma splice. I'm really not going to comment on it, but leave it for reflection. I will however attempt to respond to Josh without sticking my foot in my fingers (typing??) through grammatical embarrasment of my own.

I am an engineer, not a political or legal majored individual, so my ability to cite court cases and clauses is certainly limited. But I do think I base my arguments off of logic.

There is plenty of religion in our government that is strongly defended, and other times just overlooked. "In God We Trust" being one. And of course, "one nation, under God" added via the zealous conservatism of the early 50s. Should they be there? I'm sure you and I agree that with all do respect, they do not. It will be an interesting day on wall street when Mr. Greenspan says, "The economy? Don't worry about it boys, Our Trust's In God".

Clearly no offense in the following remarks (referencing your comment on tone), but I really don't see what the holocaust connection has to do with this discussion other than as a debate tactic to undermine my likelihood of challenging your subsequently presented position. First you compared Moore with Noriega, and now he's up to Hilter's level? Way to throw objectivity out of your argument. I'd personally avoid starting an argument by saying, "I'm a victim so I'm right."

I am not familiar with the cases you mentioned, though I will try to read up on them. To me, the problem with regulating religious displays is a matter of where to draw the line. Clearly the only appropriate place to draw that line is such that NO religious groups are allowed access to public (meaning civic) forums for display/propaganda. Before the courts ruled, some public schools drew the line raised by bible study groups through simply banning all extracurricular activities. Court rulings banning displays by any and all religious groups are analogus.

But let's look at the issue of church and state in a hypothetical public school through the San Francisco lens. In Friday's ruling, Judge Ronald Evans Quidachay denied the Campaign for California Families' request for a temporary restraining order, saying conservative groups failed to prove same-sex weddings would cause irreparable harm.

Perhaps liberal (or constitutionalists?) groups were able to prove irreparable harm to atheist children exposed to bible study groups in public schools. But I would contend that were a ruling made on the public school issue based upon the precedent of Friday's decision, that a temporary order would have been passed to reinstate ALL groups, including the bible study group, on the grounds that irreparable harm was being done by denying extracurricular activities to all students. Who were the commandments harming?

In fact, French students are now banned from wearing any religious indentifying clothing or jewelry to school. It started with head scarves worn by 10 year old girls, but now it is crosses, stars of david and any other symbol. Is that your separation of church and state? A denuding of individuality in public arenas based on religion? Yet isn't the expression of individuality based on sexuality a goal of the liberal agenda? I hope you see what I am getting at, and it is not a legal argument. It is a social statement.

Josh, you say I am missing a "key point." Well, Newsom didn't court challenge. He ordered the city to disobey the law (Prop 22) and it was the conservative groups that took this to court. Though perhaps in the end it is the same result. The problem is, he is stealing the show from Massachussetts, as Rep. Barney Frank has expressed concern over. Two months from now, Newsom's move would be moot. Same sex marriage will be legal in Mass. (for Massachussetts citizens), and efforts to draft a state constitutional amendment for the 2006 ballot have already failed. Newsom's anarchial stunt (which came AFTER and overshadowed the legislative failure) could taint a legitimate legal process (a parallel of which is occuring in Rhode Island) and result in a backlash in public opinion in those and other states.

I apologize for the ballooning of this discussion into other topics. I felt it necessary to provide my response, and that required a broader look at the issues. Despite being an engineer, I do understand the concepts of republican democracy (small r, small d). Not to open a new can of worms but one of my main concerns with the FMA isn't even its content, but frankly I'm more concered over its impact on federalism, the Tenth Amendent and the ability for legitimate legal processes like those in Massachussetts and Rhode Island to unfold. I'm going to go back to ceramic research now, as I do not wish to get entrapped in a circular discussion in an area I am obviously not trained to visit beyond and elementary level.

I have faith that both of their futures will be bright ones.

I have faith that tomorrow will come. I can't be sure it will, but probability hints toward it, so I believe in tomorrow without an ounce of actual proof it will be here.

I think you framing your entire religious search around ideas and concepts of G-d, religion, and humanity that you rightfully disagree with. However, that doesn't mean there aren't ideas and concepts of G-d, religion, and humanity "out there" worth finding and dedicating oneself to. One can't do that, however, if one is still trying to prove those he has already disagreed with to be wrong.

Does that make sense?

Also, I wouldn't put all my eggs in science and rationality just yet. Yes, the two are beyond important for 21st century humanity, but they don't have all the answers or direction a healthy humanity needs.

I hear you man. A faith that causes division between loved ones over the acceptance/refusal of a catalogued list of beliefs is not a "faith" at all. It is a "test."

People are always more important than beliefs, and that goes both ways.

Anyone who claims otherwise has unfortunately embraced the wrong aspects of religion. "Religion was made for man, man wasn't made for religion," to conceptually paraphrase one of the greatest prophets of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I dont know if you read the report that the Sox' FO was considering shifting back to Papelbon as a closer but had yet to announce it. Although this has been reported to be untrue in reality (Edes: IT'S A JOKE, KIDS,) what do you think the chances are of them moving Paps back into the closer's role if Piniero et al doesn't work out in the early part of the season?

They have Lester, god bless him, Tavarez and others that could serve as a servicable 5th starter, and could give the team a lock-tight closer. I'm not saying I WOULD do this, because I would rather see Paps pitch 200 innings/year, but I'm just wondering if you have any inside information/observations on the topic. Thanks!

What on earth does that even mean? Have you heard of one employee being fired for crossing the organization? There were plenty of columns critical of the team and the ownership when Theo left. THe CHB writes a piece slamming the team or an owner or a player every other week when the wind direction shifts.

If you don't want to pay the crazy prices at Fenway, that's your prerogative. But don't pretend that John Henry is really Snidely Whiplash, stroking his handlebar mustache and muttering, "The fools! The fools!" ever time the turnstiles click.

Well stated! I especially agree with the reference about how difficult it is for those who did not grow up in America to understand just how "deep rooted" the issue of race has always been/continues to be.

This actually took me down memory lane as it remined me of someone I briefly dated, a few years back. He was a young (30ish),highly successful entrepreneur who had migrated from Kenya to America at the age of 18. Sadly, I learned that he was indeed a bit clueless about race in this country, holding a very idealistic opinion about the issue. His perspective was that it was non-existent and "all in my head". I actually found it difficult to believe that in his 12 plus years of residing in the U.S., he had never encountered racism along the way!?!. And I can only hope that the magnitude of this historic Presidential election, coupled with other note worthy, race-relative events (e.g. Don Imus scandal,Katrina,etc.),has opened his eyes; brought him down to earth.

This display of ignorance (coupled with other serious differences of opinion regarding race, gender and politics) made it easy for me to eventually bid my former acquaintance farewell!

This knee jerk reaction to call everything private evil is baffling to me. I’ve spent my entire career in public service and there are admittedly things that should be left to the government, but I think those things are dwindling. Law enforcement is about the only thing I can see that needs to be left to the government, because everything from street repair to poor relief is done better by private entities. I have spent time checking again and again the cost of private versus public road construction and the savings in the private sector is astronomical. The efficiency realized by these private contractors is anathemas to public works and no one would want to pay the taxes it would cost to have highways constructed by government contractors.
New ideas should be considered when something is failing and admittedly public education is failing. I hear time and time again that it’s everything from poverty to lazy parents but what are the alternatives? We have spent over 40 years in the war on poverty and still no victory. Maybe we should pull the troops out and turn the education system over to someone who could find a profit in it.

I feel that this article is amazing, just in the graphic at the top there are tons of countries missing. We should include all G8 countries in the study, this would see how they are doing. On top of this why not G8+G5+G20, I know there is an overlap of countries in each but would be good.

We just have to keep working on getting the word out that Climate Change is a big issue that everyone should be involved with. No one needs to be funded to really say Climate Change isn't real, it is here everywhere around the world.

I'm not really sure how this is supposed to save space since the space below won't be usable for anything except parks and this long raised building would block other resident's views. I personally like the small businesses located at the street level at the bottom of the buildings. It really adds a lot of variety, action and closer social connection with the communities of the city. This building design is too isolated.

This isn't the first thing I've heard like this. Look up Petrolia, PA for a story about how the entire town can no longer use their water. I've been there and saw the local convenience store with racks of 5 gallon bottles to supply the coffee and soda machines. Really weird setup. Looks like the town was built around the refinery, so what can you expect.

Shohn, what do the natural sciences have anything to do with a supernatural god... nothing. So, what is your point. Is it to try and diminish the human understanding of natural events, so that your supernatural belief becomes more believable?

If your god is supernatural and 100% transcendent, then it's 0% understandable by a natural person such as yourself.

In order for you to chop science down, so that it is equal to the 0% understandable supernatural belief system - you'd have to suggest that science is not even 0% understandable.

You lose, if that is your intent. However, maybe you just like a change from the Christian religion, and talking about something that is real for a change.

This reminds me of the story of Frank Abagnale, who wrote the book, Catch Me If You Can (which was later turned into the Leo DiCaprio movie). Yeah, it didn't seem like too much to get excited over. The only thing concern-worthy was having completely inappropriate ads and then having to pay credits (which are now going to be actually worth something) not to show them. I didn't expect to turn anyone down, but you never know what kind of crap might come out.

I'm a little concerned that the whole beauty of being able to put your Entrecard ad on other blogs will disappear if the whole ad selling thing gets too popular, but I guess we'll see.

Great review of DemoCamp10. I think you hit the nail on the head for each of the presentations, including Quotiki.com.

It was great to show Quotiki, even on such short notice (we signed up for an empty slot on Sunday). We created Quotiki for fun, in our spare time, and we're shocked at the traffic and attention it has received. This has forced us to reconsider our just for fun, get our name out there, move onto the real project attitude. Who knows, maybe there's a business model there somewhere.

hahaha! Now, I'll agree that the million figures do not seem correct. But, we will never any close figures..since no one was out there counting heads. However, your conspiracy theory is quite comical...but that's all it's worth.

You have really captured great expression (or lack there of in this case) in this piece, and I love the depth and slightly grainy quality, while the colors are soft and somewhat blurred so it all tends to balance very nicely. Great work!
