Surely the tough bit comes when you try to escaped this preset 'tastes' setting - say all of your online life you've looked for x and then after a conversation with someone you decide you'd like to look at y - but it wont let you!! as it decides your 'really' interested in x still....
Very true - many interviews now have people being googled and facebooked to find out any odd information - whether its interviewer OR interviewee. I was presented in an interview with "my online footprint" by an SEO consultant - which they said spoke volumes for my expertise - more than what was on my CV - and in a good way :) As such I think it's more and more important to keep an online identity that you vet with care!
