in Hull City’s U.S. Charm Offensive Will Pay Dividends on EPL Talk
It's not a myth, I live in Hull and it is a rugby town by tradition, just because the KC is full for a first season in the top flight doesnt mean its not a rugby town, it is. 2 rugby teams that completely divide the city.

"He was signed by West Ham for £6 million more than a year ago, but has only made two appearances for the East London club."
Harsh, the lads been injured since his second game with one of the worst injuries possible to a player.
As for the Hyypia thing. My god, another "Gaffer in shock have a go at Liverpool for no reason". You clearly know absolutely f-all about football if you now think Hyypia is 'crap'. He has performed admirably in the last few seasons, remains an important player in the squad and has been a tremendous servant for TEN years at one club (a rarity in this day and age). Ask any knowledgeble football fan and they will disagree with Hyypia being thrown in with the other crap in this "article" (yeah right). If Hyypia was so crap, how come a host of Premier League clubs tried to sign him in the summer and will do so again this January?
You really do show your bias Gaffer and it's pretty pathetic.

The Gaffer
Matt, how is having an opinion about a player showing my bias? I support no Premier League clubs so I call it as I see it. If Liverpool does things to impress me, I'll write about them favorably.
Cheers,

in Torres Double Overshadowed by Mike Riley on EPL Talk
That I will agree with. Torres was denied what should have been an impressive and fast hat-trick with a great well taken third goal.
And yes, it wasnt too dissimilar to Pogatetz except he didnt catch the man as bad, but could have.

in Torres Double Overshadowed by Mike Riley on EPL Talk
Seriously, Torres' goals werent overshadowed by Riley at all. The match was over by the sending off anyway. Cahill is a cocky gobshite who showed disrespect ala Ashley Cole last season and rightly got sent off. He was also obviously seeking revenge for the Arbeloa thing. As for Arbeloa, he was provoked too but nobody mentions or shows the little kicks Osman (i think?) was taking before his kick.

As far as I'm concerned, Torres two goals were overshadowed by the stupid rediculous way Riley called the entire 90 minutes. You can look at the 3 minutes of brilliance of Torres as your overriding storyline, but to me that's not the case.
And if Arbeloa is going to retaliate the way he did because of the way Osman or anyone for that matter marks him, then maybe the Premier League is not the league for him.
As for Cahill, he was sent off for the tackle, not what he did after it. As for the tackle itself, the studs did not connect with Alonso. Alonso yes was a sitting duck, but a clumsy tackle does not make it a red card challenge.
And to say Cahill disrespected ala Ashley Cole...please tell me you're joking. When at all did Cahill start getting into the referee's face and pointing to the back of his shirt? That's right he didn't. You can read above to see how I think the situation should have played out.

Interesting, the MoTD analysis focussed on the fact Hull forced Arsenal inside and had bodies in there and didnt allow them to get behind and get crosses in. The opposite of your analysis ;-)

in Why So Many Empty Seats For Cup Competitions? on EPL Talk
Evertonian being a typical thick Blue there.... The evidence suggests most teams care less for the League Cup seeing as most teams choose to rest players.
Theres also the fact that football costs so much more to attend thesedays and thus fans would prefer to watch a match which really matters in the League.
Then theres the fact theres more football on TV than ever before (and online) so people choose to either watch that match at home or another match.
Basically, Sky and money have ruined everything that was great about English football.

in Warning Signs For Liverpool Despite Injury Time Winner Against Boro on EPL Talk
Funny this, if Mancs or Chelsea had won their 2 opening games in similar fashion, everyone would be telling us how they have the mark of champions, how winning ugly is part of what champions do and the never say die attitude shows great team spirit. Winning when playing poorly is a sign im happy to see for this season, as a Liverpool fan.
As for the mong who commented on why Benayoun was playing left midfield... Maybe because there's no one else? Aurelio isnt a midfielder, Babel was only just back from Olympics and we have nobody else. Hence Benitez wanting to sign Riera and/or Barry.

Fair analysis but you may see Liverpool look more like this:
------------ Reina ---------------
Arbeloa Carra Agger Dossena
--------- Masch Barry ----------
-- Gerrard - Keane - Babel
------------ Torres ---------------
Barry replaced by Alonso or Lucas if Barry doesnt sign. With Gerrard, Keane and Babel inter-changing during play.

in Premiership Preview–5. Aston Villa on EPL Talk
There is no way on planet earth that MON will play Reo Coker remotely on the right of midfield, last season he praised how well he had become a new Makelele in the holding midfield role.
And usually Villa play with Agbonlahor and Young wide of Carew in a three man attack, ala Chelsea.

in Premiership Preview–19. Hull City on EPL Talk
All I can say is that if the author believes Hull will be playing Windass as a lone striker this season then he is seriously deluded.
I also doubt Hull's spending is over, Brown is clearly in the hunt for a forward having tried to sign Davies from Bolton and whoever he gets in will be a key player.

in Shock Scores In Friendlies, But Do The Results Really Matter? on EPL Talk
"Crewe, Macclesfield and Doncaster may be reveling in their victories over their Premier League counterparts"
Or NOT.
Nobody gives a shit about friendly results, only moronic fans who get worked up over what managers and players see as nothing more than a fitness training session.
To quote Phil Brown himself: "'I'm not really bothered about football and the organisational side until early August when we play Hearts and Osasuna. The friendlies prior to that are me trying to get 90 minutes under their belts.'"

in MUTV Online Promotes Coverage Of Preseason Matches on EPL Talk
Hahahaha. Thats all I can say!

Now in the top flight City are averaging 24,800. Last season the two rugby clubs got 21,000 dded together, 13,000 FC and 8,000 rovers. Rugby city? don't make me laugh. Not to mention Hull sunday league is the biggest in the country and there are 70 divisions of amateur football on a weekend comaped to 1 of rugby league.
