After reading stuff like these, a Malaysian would usually say: My goodness, this country is so terrible, the system is so corrupted, etc etc etc. But deep down I still love this country because where else would we find mamak food la, bruder?

Lolzz... notice how most Malaysian can only point to food when they speak of their passion for this country. This is what we have achieved after 50 years of independence.

Asking Malaysians to care is really an uphill task, the 'don't care' attitude is deeply ingrained in them. After seeing so many absurd things the gov does, corruption running rampant, unsolved cases, justice not served, many Malaysians just decide that the easy way out is to be oblivious to all this. What's the point of voicing out when no one cares? What's the point of lodging a police report for a crime when the police themselves don't give a shit? Gasp, if we voice out, we might be haul off by the ISA or something might happen to our family! This 'i dun care coz no one cares' attitude becomes a vicious cycle and we become the silent majority.

This is the docility that the gov wants from us and most of us willingly give it to them. You go, Su Ann! Keep blogging! We must speak out and be heard!

And the angkasawan thingy is a big joke. Some billionaires paid millions to get the once in a lifetime trip to space. This expensive trip is happily sponsored by our gov to a lucky chap, using our money. My historical knowledge is not very good, but I don't recall governments in any other countries sponsoring a trip for their citizen to have a short tour in space. Quick, quick, record this in the Malaysian Book of Records, we are the first! No wait, make it the Guiness Book of World Records!! :p

I like to sleep in class too back in high school, but the teachers just won't let me! When I reached school in the morning, I felt fresh and energetic but by the end of the day, all the energy is gone. Not because of the assignments or anything like that, it's cause the teachers were so boring! And they won't allow me to doze off! Talk about torture... In the end, I have to give all sorts of excuses to sleep (eg: unwell). Lolzzz... ;p

Not all the time... lolzz... that's why I can't always use that excuse, even though it works better than others. :)
I don't have many robot friends. I find them quite stifling. It's really hard to talk or discuss anything with them because they don't have much to say. And the majority of them are quite conservative.
My bestie went to the same coll as me and was unfortunate enough to be in this class filled with robots! When asked what kinda qualities they want in their spouses, the guys want quiet, obedient, nice wives. And the girls actually agree and said that when they are someone's wives they will be nice and obedient to their husbands' wishes too! I was dumbfounded when I heard that. Seriously, wtf....

I have a Panasonic Lumix too and I totally love it! It's an old model, I've had it for around 3 years but it never failed me. :) I especially love the fact that the pics I took without flash rarely turn out blur, unless I really shake my hand while taking pics.
4 days of HK definitely! Its just 4 days.. Think of all the memories you'll get when you go to HK with Martian. haha... :)

Lke vainjupiter, I was a victim of robbery years ago too and it happened at my parents' shop. 4 guys with parangs came in and started shouting and waving their weapons like mad. One of them even hit a worker on the head with a 5L can of paint, resulting in serious head injuries that required 8 stiches. I was made a hostage of sorts, they held a parang to my neck while kept demanding more money from my parents. Thank goodness they didn't do anything to me in the end. They left with some valuables and all the money in the shop. Except the worker, none of us were hurt.

Now, how did the police handle this? They actually got a call from our neighbour while the robbers were still in our shop because our neighbour suspected something was amiss. But for the next 30 mins the robbers were there, no sight of the police at all. The police knew a robbery is happening but they were too chicken to come and confront the robbers! After the whole ordeal, my mom called the police and around 15 minutes later, a lone policeman came, riding a motorbike. And he dared to asked, "Mana mereka pergi? Oh, sana? Okok, saya pergi kejar" Yaa... as if the robbers are gonna hang around waiting for this lone policeman on motorsikal to catch them..

Later, we heard that the owner and a few workers of another shop in the same area were killed by robbers. Same robbers or not, we don't know. Of coz, till this day no one was caught. I never trusted the police force after that incident.

That's terrible.. Can't people pass away peacefully in this country? Without having their bodies seized by police just coz they are supposedly Muslim... And those bloggers are just plain insensitive and disgusting.
On a different matter, I love how you use the word "subscribe to a religion" in this post. I used that word several times too, and it never failed to raise people's eyebrows. I believe in god, I just don't subscribe to any religion. Haha.. :)

Su Ann, your eloquence and bravery in discussing these issues never cease to amaze me. Young adults who think that their votes won't matter should see how Obama won in several primaries thanks to the huge turnout of youth voters. I hope that this can happen in Malaysia too for this year's general election. It really is too bad that I haven't reach 21 and therefore can't vote for the 2008 general election. :(

That last photo of you with the dreamgirls, you seriously look like a dreamgirl yourself. :) I'm abit blur about the show since I'm not in malaysia and the only way I know this show exist is from your blog. Yes, I strongly agree with you that the role of the judges are very important. Their comments will help the viewers make informed choices.
I'm following So You Think You Can Dance in Australia now and the judges for the show do a tremendous job in helping ordinary viewers like me who have no clue about dancing to appreciate the finer aspects of it. What appears on tv to be a simple flip is actually very challenging and without the judges to pinpoint that, I would have blindly commented that it was a lacklustre routine.
So yes, we should urge the judges to play a bigger role in MDG so that the voters know what is really going on.

Looking forward to it!". 1 month before coming to aus, i'm like "oh no, my hols is ending soon... time passes by so freaking fast! I better cherish my time in msia, go out with frens, spend time with family, eat ALOT of msian food!" :) You'll be fine, uni is a great place with great learning environment. Sigh... I can relate with your bad experience with the accounting lady, though mine not similar case or place. I think it's just a Malaysian attitude. I bet if you're a 40+ woman she won't even dare to say anything. The reason she dare to nag (bully) you is coz you're young. :(
