in Jury finds man guilty of spreading HIV on AMERICAblog
Yes,
Here in South Carolina it is a felony punishable up to 10 years and no more than $5000 in fines for the crime. It is criminal transmission of HIV and it is taken very seriously here in South Carolina.

so in SC it should be 60 years and $35k. . that's something, but nothing like the sentence the victims have to live with.

in Peggy Noonan On Hot Mic: “It’s Over” Because Of Palin Pick on Jack and Jill Politics
My jaw dropped hearing this from Peggy Noonan. This proves that the media narrative is completely opposite from what the actual media pundits believe. No one believes this pick does anything to change this race.
Nonetheless,
I was completely floored, but I've felt the exact same way about the Palin pick.

I am also of the mindset of one of the posters that suggest that... in your hearts... you can't with a straight face tell me you would want this women running our country.
My mom has 4 degrees and raised 3 children. I think my mother is smarter than this women and I don't even know her, but I don't want my mother running the country.
In my heart, forget politically... I do not believe THIS particular women is ready to lead this nation of asked to do so.
As much as I do not like Hillary Clinton... this women IS NO HILLARY CLINTON!!!!!

IF EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE IS YOUR BENCHMARK FOR EXPERIENCE IN THIS RACE, THEN SHE IS THEREFORE MORE QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT THAN BOTH MCCAIN AND OBAMA...
SO CUT THE CRAP!!!

It is an executive office they are seeking, so it is relevant to have executive experience.
I also think it's a good thing to have Washington outsiders to bring a breath of fresh air - we can't realistically expect much change from career politicians who have a legacy of maintaining the status quo.
Gov. Palin has battled the establishment and been successful.

You look at that crowd and you tell her, this is what happens when you reach for the stars, but also what happens when you work hard and become a good person in your society.
Obama has become my hero, not because I'm a young black man, but because I'm a young black man that loves people and if Obama can pull this thing off, I believe in my heart he will be about people.
This is a moment in time I'll never forget!
Thank you for the story...
That is the story of America!

This is absolutely a moment that I never thought I would see and I'm 24 years old. Listening to my grandmother who is 76 tell me she never thought it would happen, makes my heart warm with hope.
I'm past the tears because around every corner I've been moved to tears. Obama wasn't given this nomination, he won this nomination and because of that this makes it that much more better!

Justin - I had one of my triplets on my lap and she asked me who was Dr. Martin Luther King. I told her and she asked what are slaves and where did they come from. I told her that as well and then I talked about where we came from, gave her some information I felt she could handle (she is seven) and told her the story of how people came together to fight against against slavery and helped in our struggles to obtain rights and freedoms. I gave her the kid level overview of our history. then she asked how does this relate to me today?
I sat down with her and showed her a picture of Barack Obama. I explained, in America, because people came together -- like the ones we saw on TV tonight, and fought for equality -- she can be anything she wanted to be. Proof positive was Barack Obama, our next president of the United States. If she worked hard and studied hard -- the sky was the limit.
She then asked me how did

Thus far the crowd looks amazing. I'm predicting at least 5-8 thousand. Obama's introduction went to the throat of the Republican brand.
Biden has not spoken yet, but I'm sure his speech will be great... but this is a great pick!!

I'm still stuck on what she did the night he actually had enough delegates pledged and super delegates to win the nomination.
That night the Clintons gave Obama and the rest of the democratic party the middle finger. This nomination battle post Wisconsin was never about letting voices be heard, well at least not voices not named Bill or Hillary Clinton. They then attempted to make Obama look unelectable by attempting to racially divide the democratic voting blocs. It was the most vile and despicable charade of democracy I've ever witnessed.
Had Obama done to Hillary what she did to him post Wisconsin and the night Obama clinched the nomination. Obama would be a perennial politician with no legs. The Clintons and their machine would have cut them off and shoved them down his throat and he would be lucky if he won his next Senate race. They would have murdered his political future in the democratic party and if they couldn't do it, they would have fought hard to attempt it.
The only way to achieve unity is for Clinton to throw her support to Obama 100% and stop this political posturing. It reeks of classlessness and pity.
This is the saddest display of arrogance I've ever seen in politics outside of the Bush Administration's all out assault on the American people. The Clintons make me sick and I would love for them to go away.

I gotta respond and agree! Hillary took her supporters down into an underground "bunker" for her final rally ....at BARUCH college! No cell phone service or tv monitors to show the drama of O's delegate lead increasing on the CNN ticker. Still trying to hold on by her claws for one more night. Those people who'd started gathering from late afternoon, had no idea what was happening on the outside.
Remember, these venues are nailed down ahead of time...so SHE KNEW ahead of time that he had enough superdelegates and would release them througout the evening!! Which tells me they were in communication, they had given her time to wrap this up...but when it was time to go, SHE STILL HAD TO BE SHOVED!
She was fast-talking behind the scenes, asking the O team for more time for unity's sake....and they gave it to her. They let her have it because they wanted to organize in every state anyway, but they refused to compete aggressively with her.
This is like every scene from every crappy monster movie. You think they've thrown the monster off the cliff, but it reaches up and grabs someone's ankle...and you know they've got to kill it good this time.
This is where Barack, the Ruthless - as in Vlad the Impaler - needs to show up. He needs to use stealth and treachery to neutralize her, now. Barack has no stomach for these things - allowing Reverend Wright to almost destroy him before cutting him loose. The fact she's a woman, and he wants her to campaign for him makes it even harder. Maybe this is a recurring lesson for Barack.
I hope Barack learned the lesson last time. Kill it good this time Barack, kill it good!

in Afghanistan - What’s Going On on Jack and Jill Politics
As a Veteran that just returned from Afghanistan 2 months ago. I was stationed in the Eastern Zone of Afghanistan where where nearly 40% of the violence in Afghanistan took place. It is my assessment after spending close to 10 months in the region that putting 3-4 thousand more troops in the Peche River Valley would not only put the fear of God in the Taliban, but would give us total tactical control in the valley.
Now we already have tactical control over the valley, but that is strictly from Air Support and the ability to control the high ground. However within the Valley Region in the East we need more troops on the ground to draw the taliban out of the local villages. Putting 3-4 thousand more troops in the Valley would give the U.S. complete and total control of the ground war in the Eastern Zone.
I wasn't deployed to the south near Helman and Patika, but most of my company who did get stationed in the south would agree, that place more troops in the southern zone would help with the ground war.
The Air Force and Army Air Support is awesome. Those guys do a spectacular job with securing the high points and giving us air support during major operations. The Air Force and Army do a great job on that front, but we need at least another 20-30 thousand in Afghanistan. I want to go back, because I believe in that mission. We can actually claim victory in Afghanistan.
Also...
If you would like to send care packages to troops in Afghanistan shoot me an email at justinlpugh@gmail.com to I can give you the address for troops working hard to defend not only our freedom, but the freedom of those in Afghanistan.
Sorry if the post seemed rushed...
