I think the solution you're looking for can be summed up in two words...LONG FORM. People want to watch something tht should be shorter but is stretched to be longer in order to meet some notion that's been blown out of proportion. You're also going to want a handheld microphone to get quality Man On Street bites from people who have nothing to do with the subject at hand. It's probably obvious, but if you have a co-host you'll want a door that closes in order to execute disciplinary action without being in earshot of an entire room of people who disagree with you. That pretty much sums it up, except to say you should look into Avid editing and Twitter cyber networking. You've probably never heard of either, but trust me.
