Nice one, whoever did that.

*although I'm getting the evil horizontal scroll on a tiger mac @1024 x 768. It's evil I tell you.

Re: A blog by any another name

No brand is one of the many things I loved about Adam Freetly's entry into the Sandbox Designs competition, Promised Land. Of course, I don't care if my blog is broken since usually it's not that hard to fix: 1. Deactivate the plugin. 2. Go on with my life.

Out of the options presented: I'd like an intermediate plugin that hijacked the "Right Now" widget on the dashboard to let me know about the coming changes or hijacked the "upgrade your WordPress" yellow warning-box-thing. Maybe with an ajax-y close-this-window checkbox?

Re: Are we just repeating ourselves?

When every WordPress blog is using the cleanest, most advanced and beautiful themes; running the best, carefully coded plugins; isn't repeating anyone else's mistakes; and there are no more helpful features to be added to WordPress or ways to make it better; then yes, there's nothing to blog about anymore.

Until then, blog.

Re: Don’t mess with my Toot Toot

Thanks for laying this out with such a great example, Andrew. I think the official WordPress Themes Directory is the answer to this. It's tough to standardize what (in a lot of cases) boils down to style issues. But if you want your Theme included in the official directory you have to commit to what are the really important standards with WordPress Themes. Things like important function calls for plugins and widgetized sidebars. Basically the catastrophic stuff. Anything else is, again, a style issue. Luckily there are a lot of themes to choose from!
