in Obama’s move to the center on The New Mexico Independent
Right on, barbwire! I agree - I have long been waiting for Democratic candidates who will truly stand up for the progressive ideals that are the hallmark of this party.

We have had enough of the neo-con "vision" that has turned out to be nothing more than an adolescent fantasy of world domination - and a disastrous one, at that.

Obama's message of hope is what Americans are longing for; we are ready to begin cleaning up the mess the Bush administration has made of the U.S. and the world. But it won't happen if Democrats try to out-Repub the Republicans. Arianna Huffington is spot-on in her editorial, and I hope & pray the Obama campaign gets THIS message.

in Huckabee’s Careless Remark on The New Mexico Independent
Ever notice how the leaders who've been gunned down - JFK, MLK, Bobby Kennedy, Ghandi - or have died in a sudden plane crash - Paul Wellstone - have all been on the progressive side of the political spectrum? It makes you wonder... And, I agree with chapacabra - Please, press, do not give Huckabee the benefit of the doubt.

in White’s words under the microscope on The New Mexico Independent
I'm a little disappointed that Martin Heinreich has put so much attention onto this rather trivial bit of White's history. I'm no fan of White, but Heinreich's fight over this sounds like a fishing expedition. Come on Martin, you can do better!

in Elizabeth Edwards takes press to task on The New Mexico Independent
You have done us a great service by bringing Elizabeth's article to attention. Thanks to both of you for airing this vital concern. Like the author, I was also outraged by the short shrift the press gave last winter to "second tier" candidates. By the time we New Mexicans could vote in the Democratic caucus - way back in early February - the field had been cut in half, largely by the mainstream media's refusal to treat this campaign as a serious endeavor to choose the next leader of the free world - not as who will win the Oscars. Elizabeth is right; if we the people want a press that gives that us the quality of information we deserve, we're going to have to demand it. I'm cheered that the New Mexico Independent is online to be part of the drive for quality reporting.
