Right. That'll be why you've written a 336 word article on it?

you seriously counted every words? I didn't even do that before posting.

in England’s computer privacy rights totally screwed on The Inquisitr
Fine, don't come back. If this is what you base your country of residence on then you won't find many places to live.
It's quite offensive to be "lectured" on why we are somehow putting up with this. You know what, a lot of people in England are too busy surviving because of idiot bankers rather than wondering about their privacy.
However, if you think Brits (this won't just be an English law at present - have you already fallen into the trap of calling the entire British Isles "England" ?) don't care about privacy or civil liberties at all, then you obviously haven't been paying much attention. Even a cursory glance at the comments section of The TImes' article you've linked to would show you that.
I'm sure you're trying to be humorous with the "camera up your arse" (as opposed to your donkey) though in reality things really aren't that bad. Are they any better in the US? I think not.

I don't live in the US and yes things are getting bad there as well thanks to things like the Patriot Act - which seems to do more damage to patriots that those who would hurt the country.
And yes I know the difference between Britain - UK - Great Britain perhaps if you had read my reply above to another commenter you would have gathered that.

I wouldn't call the Apple-tab app switch cumbersome. I often find if I'm switching between two windows in two apps then a quick switch between apps (app-tab) works great - and have you noticed that the order of the apps in that line changes so the most recently switched from is always next on the right? Now that in itself is a very cool nuance.
But yes, exposé is wonderful, particularly as it still updates windows live whilst in that mode.

Oh yeah I did think the link looked funny - oh well someone gets a little payout.
If I can find the desk space I might end up running the two computers with three screens! I could do with the extra processing power.
Will let you know sometime towards October.

I went and took a look at some user reviews and I haven't found a bad one, so went ahead and ordered it. With 17% off Amazon was the cheapest and with free delivery so paid £105. Amazing! I'm prepared to wait 1-2 weeks for that - the next cheapest was something like £130 incl delivery. What a bargain! I'm on a 17" 4:3 CRT at present so it will bring some much needed real estate - I might even keep the CRT hooked to my older computer and have 2 running at once. I'm power mad! :)
Thanks for the tip. By the way I *think* I followed your link so you should get a commission :)

Their website gives these specs:
Res: 1440x900
Color: 16.2m
Brightness: 300cd/m2
Contrast ratio: 700:1
Response time: 5ms
That sounds pretty good to me for that price.

Wow, who are these 'most people'?
I rarely watch this kind of stuff - what has it added that we didn't know already? What is the point of raking up this tragedy (apart from to make some filmmakers cash - unless that's being donated to some worthy casue? I doubt it)
Oh well, that's "drama"

Yes, great work Aaron and thanks for the mentions - sorry I didn't get here sooner...
We share a very close birthday for our blogs. My personal site (which is in its third incarnation, but there you go) started around May 11th 2004.
My blogging life is only two months less than my married life, and I'm happy with both.
All the best for here onwards.

in Readers using IE on Technosailor
I had a number of 412s but it was an issue with the web server, attempting to block spam but being overzealous. It sounds like you have (had) a different problem though I've not come across the server giving out 412 errors for this thing.
Anyway, just in case anyone surfs here searching for 412 Precondition Failed error solutions, when it's to do with 'naughty' words in either the referring or the target URL, etc. I solved it (on Textdrive servers) by putting the following directive in my .htaccess file:
SecFilterEngine Off
It means that spam attacks are potentially more likely but it does stop whatever rules a host has built in at server level.
Not sure if this comment was helpful at all but there you go...

in Strong bloggers don’t link? on Scobleizer
Err, "splogger" isn't shorthand for "strong blogger".
Sploggers don't (generally) link - good bloggers link.
Unless you are writing completely original content, you have to cite your sources, and generally online this is courteously done with a live link.
I'm not going to say that people who don't link are lesser bloggers, but they shouldn't call the vast majority of us 'weak bloggers' (at least by implication).
The whole ethos of blogging is linking and interacting.

in Regarding Elitism on Technosailor
It's only been in the past couple of months - even on Firefox on a PC it's slow to begin rendering. Not sure it might be a plugin of some sort? It really hangs Safari - takes nearly a minute after the page is displayed for Safari to allow user input again.

Why don't you then? Stop moaning about it - either deal with the trolls like everyone else has to, or give up.

in State Department Kooks Back Muslims in Cartoon Controversy on Technosailor
Yes it's very interesting. I read somewhere that a Muslim cartoonist had published an image of the Virgin Mary with 'bare breasts' (aren't breasts always bare?). A 'few Catholics' expressed concern.
What was said is that this Muslim wouldn't be facing a death threat. Yet seemingly everyone involved in this cartoon has faced threats of violence, intimidation and death. (Sounds like the Animal Liberation Front to me).
We do have to remember that these are extremist, and every religion that hijacks a faith has them. I do feel genuinely sorry for moderate Muslims who are caught up in this.
I'm not saying it's good to mock religion for its own sake - though often it's healthy. I think the reaction of a religion to how it is parodied and mocked says a lot about the religion itself.
It's interesting, and maybe it's the reason why Christians seem to have to put up with it whilst other religions appear to get special treatment, that at the root of the Christian faith is a man who was mocked, beaten and killed - and whose words to his followers were that they would indeed also be mocked and persecuted because of him. It's not surprising that the Christian faith is kicked around in the dirt and not defended, and how extremist groups - both "Christian" and of other systems - can abuse it for their own selfish and evil gains.
I've seen parodies, insulting pictures, rude jokes, Jerry Springer the Opera, yada yada, for all of my life. If anything, it makes my faith stronger. I know it's part of life. I don't go around calling for people to be executed. It's actually against the teachings of Christ. And what's happening here is surely against the true teachings of Mohammed. Misinterpretation is rife.
I've not expressed myself eloquently. The whole situation is totally out of proportion, and I think the perception of the Muslim faith suffers, just as the perception of Christianity suffers when politicians and warmongers use it for their own agenda.
Sigh.
