The inherent power of a few "experets" being leveled by the power of the interenet:

http://kevinperkins.wordpress.com/2006/06/25/ad...

This idea is also well described in Freakonomics... a great book that explains away assumptions through empirical thinking/measurement. I liken the ad business like real estate agents, which Steven Levitt beautifully describes as people with knowledge that if widely distributed, makes them powerless:

http://www.freakonomics.com/ch2.php

Check it out!

Re: Top US Web Brands Supported by User Generated Content

Great post. It's an interesting notion---that users will start demanding rev share from their own generated content. Really? Maybe. In some cases like music---probably. Because musicians are already "in tune" (ha-ha) with how the biz works/is.

However, the kid on MySpace who posts pics about their last days of summer before they start their senior year?? I doubt it. Their barely wise to creating/uploading content--let alone know that they should make money from it. Plus, I think the majority of users on these sites are simply happy to have a destination to go to, express themselves, and communicate with like-minded folks... and have their 15-minutes of fame.

Maybe in Web 3.0....

Re: Mobile Friendly Websites: Updated 10/3

Don't forget Skweezer!

Re: Mowser = Mobile Browser

I don't think it's cool that Mowser inserts illegal ads into everyone's content:

http://kevinperkins.wordpress.com/2007/04/20/mo...

Re: Mowser = Mobile Browser

Russell, unfortunately, is copying stuff we did like 3 years ago. So as far as a plug goes... whatever. The fact remains, however, that he's stealing content from publishers and with "Ads by AdMob"... and I, you, People.com, etc ... did NOT give permission to do so. This arrogance that he has about it is remarkable....

http://kevinperkins.wordpress.com/2007/04/23/mo...

Re: Mowser - The return of Russell Beattie

Before you start congratulating...

http://kevinperkins.wordpress.com/2007/04/20/mo...

Re: Mowser Makes Sites Mobile Friendly

Check out the illegal ads he's putting on everyone's content...

http://kevinperkins.wordpress.com/2007/04/20/mo...
