in Twitter: The hunt for a business model on Mathew's comments
When the day comes, and community virtual worlds become the norm, twitter rises to critical importance. I live in one community, but my interest in events occurring in other communities would make twitter extremely attractive. I would be able to keep in touch with what's happening, and be able to move to events almost instantly. Would I be willing to pay for a service that coordinates "channels" for me? I tend to think of twitter as the 21st century concierge. I hope twitter begins to move in that direction, sooner than later.

in Election Twitter: Nice try, but… on Mathew's comments
How would you like to see what's happening on November 4th at your precinct? Would you like to check if there's a line, trouble with machines, maybe catch the moment to moment chaos as vote counts are manipulated? Combine Twitter with youtube updates to catch all the action of our national elections being trashed by corrupt officials. Twitter promises to let us all participate in "getting the news" directly, without corporate media filtering, censoring what we see, hear, and read. Had Obama been truly ahead of the curve, we'd all be able to focus on events at the polls around the country. He didn't, and won't, as there is this little matter of how to deal with time zones and not influencing the voters on the west coast when they learn the election is being rigged on the east coast as Twitter reports start flooding in.

in Is Internet radio on the brink? on Mathew's comments
The stage has been set now that creative commons licensing is recognized by our court system. Imagine what is happening behind closed doors in the copyright office. For the first time, they have to consider and acknowledge there are some radio stations that play only creative commons licensed music. Explicit permission to broadcast, distribute, share music without penalty by broadcasters around the world. Pandora got their letter, moaned about it, and when I suggested they move to creative commons licensed works, they failed to consider it as a defense.

The next station will do exactly that, the case will move forward, and the ultimate verdict will be that creative commons licensing eliminates royalties and the RIAA/MPAA/ASCAP/BMI/SESAC and all the rest, will be left wondering why they spent so much money on a lost cause. Better they would have invested that money to compete and reorganize to serve their industry.

in Protesters await Rove’s return to Iowa on The Iowa Independent
Protesters Await War Criminal Rove's Return To Iowa

GOP delights in honoring war criminal Rove at a luncheon, fundraising event. The Wakonda Country Club has decided it will support the event, and does not believe it should discriminate against war criminals. Makes one wonder what their membership requirements are. Jason's next article should highlight the backgrounds of the club's membership. Might be real interesting.
